Looks like the BE will sit back, monitor the landscape and see what happens.
Let see if this one is working.

Associated Press national college football writer Ralph Russo got a statement from Big East Commissioner John Marinatto about expansion Saturday morning. Russo put part of the statement on his Twitter account.

Russo tweeted:

"Statement from BE commish: despite recent published reports the big east conf has not extended membership invitations to any institutions."

"Big east statement continued: media reports to the contrary are erroneous."

"To sum up, the big east's plan is still a plan. Lots of momentum in that direction, but not a done deal."

Boise State Interim Athletic Director Curt Apsey told the Idaho Statesman on Friday that Boise State had not been invited to join the Big East.

It might be just semantics at this point, as multiple outlets are reporting the Big East invitations won't come until early next week after a 72-hour waiting period from Friday's decision to invite the Broncos and five others, including Air Force, Houston and SMU.

We'll have much more on this story throughout the day.

The "pro-active" approach.
*sigh*
God forbid that anyone erroneously believe that the Big East was being in any way proactive about our situation.

However, I think the way these "invitations" work is that one is never actually extended unless there's basically a 100% knowledge that the invitation will be accepted. And in the case of the 4 that were issued together, it sounds like at least 1 wasn't 100% in our camp.

Even if Louisville stays & Boise & Navy decline, we'll need more than just UCF, Houston & SMU. Will we still want Air Force? I think probably, yes. So ECU might be higher on the list than many ECU fans believe. Other possibilities include Temple & Memphis. We should want both of them for all sports, but apparently Nova won't let Temple in. Memphis we certainly wouldn't want without their basketball program.
Nothing can happen till hey agree to increase exit fees. Hopefully that gets done on Monday
They already know what the answer is going to be before they issue the invites. The invitees have to be coy as to not upset their current conferences and burn bridges.
Perhaps The Big East hasn't sent out invites yet because they are still trying to talk Boise State and Air Force into accepting them. Maybe the reports that BSU and AF have said no are correct but negotiations are continuing.

Those schools are waiting for the exit fee increase. They need something to point that the Big East is making a move towards staying put. We all know that wont keep anyone from leaving but its all PR that those incoming schools could point to. Navy has been the most adamant about a sign from Big East.
They always said invite would happen after a conf call next week. I don't imagine any thing has changed. BE commish didn't have authority to hand out invites.
ESPN lied, what else is new.

Exactly...We all know formal invites are not handed out until decisions have been made on both sides. So until Boise St and the others say they will accept there will not be any formal offers. Allows everyone to save face of things do not work out...
I think invites haven't gone out because of the 72-hour waiting period. I'm expecting the exit fee to go up on Monday, and the invites (at least the all-sports invites) to go out by Tuesday.
ESPN drops the bomb again! It is obvious they want the BE dead

They have 2-3 days to say whatever they want, especially if it starts to converge towards the truth by Monday afternoon. They know the Big East or rumored invitees won't say anything until then. I expect they'll continue to use the opportunity.
