Quote:ESPN and Conference USA announced they reached a settlement in their litigation over the league's new television contract with Fox Sports Media Group.

Conference USA and Fox Sports Media Group have agreed to grant ESPN exclusive distribution rights to the Conference USA football championship game for the 2011-2015 football seasons.

The 2011 championship game, which was scheduled to air on one of the Fox Sports Media Group networks, will be broadcast on ESPN2 Dec. 3 at noon Eastern time.

Now with this merger, there will be no more C-USA football championship games. Leaving ESPN with a whole lotta nothin'.
Do we know when all of this goes down? Next year, I assume.

The Orlando Sentinel article says by 2013. An article from Idaho says possibly by 2012...

This new merger really does make it Conference USA...about 1/3 of the USA.
C the USA
Well, now the CUSA name would really fit if that's what we went with for the football conference name. Anyone know of what the name is yet for football?

ESPN. There you go...
MWC doesn't have a championship game, so who's to say the new combined championship game won't be on ESPN. I suspect ESPN will try to enforce their contract that way
...any word yet on the scheduling? Is the 'pod' scenario the way to go, or will we just play our 'usual' conference schedule? I'm thinking a trip to Hawaii once every 4 yrs would be a fair recruiting tool 03-idea

I figure the # of conference games we play will jump up 1 or 2...well, I also think with 'mega-gonzo-uber' conferences, we'll see 13-14 regular season games for EVERYONE, anyway...
You do realize that it has been about 16 hours since they made the announcement. The schedules for the next five years won't be out at least until Monday. 03-lmfao
well, yeah... but one can't book flights to Fresno too far in advance... 03-lmfao

It's just cool to see the confrence is being proactive, however it may turn out... hey, now maybe the MAC and Sun Belt could get together and form the 'Sun-Mid-American-Belt' alliance... SMAB? 03-melodramatic
