Quote:Navy and Air Force have also been targeted as football-only members, and the Big East is considering Temple from the Mid-American Conference and Central Florida and East Carolina from Conference-USA as members in all sports.
There we go, ECU! Your name surfaces!

This is news?
ECU's name has to resurface because of Villanova's attempted block of Temple (funny/ironic how Genshaft has been silent on UCF) and/or if either Navy or Air Force bails. Makes sense that they'd be next in line. The Big East is hedging, but they know they got ECU anytime they want them. Keep your fingers crossed Pirates.
ECU is taking Temple's spot! I'm happy with that.
I wonder if the Big East has decided that maybe its best not to become another version of Conference USA over 3 time zones?

BE goes after Temple, UCF, ECU all sports and Navy FB only it doesn't even have to head out West if it doesn't want. That will give the BE 10 schools in football, all in the Eastern Timezone.

The fear that the BE is in danger of losing its AQ is overblown. Its still a prettty stout conference top to bottom in foootball with UCF, ECU, Temple, and Navy.

You could always pull the Boise State card if you have to in 2014 if the BCS bid is in question. Maybe it won't be at all.
I'm just happy they're being mentioned in ALL-SPORTS and not just football only. Could indicate that the basketball schools are wavering a bit. That's probably wishful thinking, though.
UCF and ECU all sports
Temple, Navy, Air Force, Boise State football only.

Hope the remaining all-sport members stick around and this becomes reality.

Isn't Army off the table? Wouldn't it be Air Force?

They know that they would have any number of schools anytime they wanted them for an all sports offer. ECU, Temple, Houston, UCF, SMU, ect would all jump at the chance to enter the Big East for all sports...Don't know why ECU is always singled out in this instance.

Yes, I meant Air Force.

At least if ECU is added, you can feel a little better about the direction of the conference. No offense to Temple, but if it were just Temple and UCF, and ECU is still sitting out, there is a case to be made that CUSA is still a really strong conference.
I still would like to see Memphis and Temple to fill in the holes left by Pitt and Syracuse on the basketball side of things. It all also weakens C-USA and the A-10 basketball and keeps the Big East on par with the ACC and ahead of the rest of BCS leagues for hoops.
Bring them all in. Convince BYU to join as a football only. Then bring in Memphis as well. Let's just shoot the world and go for 16 teams and be done with it.

There is enough decent teams to go to 14 or 16. The problem is the amount of basketball schools in that scenario.

I would like to see UCF, USF, Rutgers, Uconn, Louisville, ECU, Temple, Cincy, WVU, Boise, Air Force, Navy, Army, BYU, Memphis, and Houston.

I like it...Split and Grow.
I hope you guys leave the conference. Soon.
might as well add Temple for all sports not just fb now that we lost cuse/pitt for hoops too

They're gonna get ECU anytime they want too when the time comes.
Rest assured....
