Coach Bill Cubit likes to go for it on fourth down. Thus far, WMU has a 100% success rate (10 for 10) on fourth down conversions. I anticipate NIU's defense getting a couple of really exciting "third down stops" and then recognize . . . . our defense needs to stop them again.
What confidence level do you have on NIU's defense?

Hopefully someone will let the West side know that 4th down plays are important. They need to stand up and make noise.

So are 3rd downs and 2nd and long too.
Really we are not that ballsy. When we go on 4th it is for a yard or less and on the other side of the 50. They are no brainers that most teams would be able to get.
I hope we can force some 4th downs. Heck, I hope we can force some 3rd downs.

Does seem like a trend. I only remember last year's WMU game where we stopped them at the end of the game. In all my years of watching I can't recall other instances of late stops. Well, Maryland I guess.

I'd like to see us win the game with a last minute offensive drive. Been awhile since that happened.

Thanks. I'll try to do better. Despite a decade of futility on key defensive situations, I am confident each and every defensive player will try his or her best on the crucial downs. We'll give each of them a ribbon or a medal for their efforts whether they are successful or not.

the games Ive attended the west side has been more game-savy than the east side. Sometimes I literally; think most east side students, its their first football game.

I appreciate that. I'll try to forget about the 4th-and-6 against Kansas this year, the 4th-and-7(?) against Miami last year, 3rd-and-33 against Toledo, and the countless other number of defensive disappointments our team has suffered. Hopefully the trend will end. Oh yeah, I'm a Cubs fan too like many of the other people on this board!

I would rather be down by 7 or less with 3 minutes to go with the offense on the field then the defense trying to hold a late lead.
Way too many nightmares with the latter.

Ohio the same year. I can't recall a lot. D played very good in the bowl last year I thought.
You're assuming that the defense makes a 3rd down stop.
They may not even see a 4th down.
