...it only makes sense to have the conference vote to allow Pitt and SU to leave the conference after the BB season so that both schools can be in the ACC for the 2012 season. It would also be appropriate to waive the $5 million fees for both school to as an act of good will.

It looks like UCF, Temple, ECU are being invited plus Nova will move up to FBS football soon as well. The league is stable. Let's get everything wrapped up so that we can all have our clean breaks and start out fresh for 2012.
How about you pay for any CUSA exit fees to get out 27 months early.
I think they'll be forced to go through the waiting period.

Pitt is not a rich school. I think it would be better for all to allow Pitt and SU to leave early without paying any exit fees. We need to think about what is best for the student athletes and college sports. Why let greed for exit fees hurt other schools? This is what I don't like about college athletics sometimes. Too many schools try to ruin it for other schools by demanding their "pound of flesh"...

Nope....Pitt and Syracuse helped create this mess; Pitt and Syracuse need to stick around and get this sh*t on them too. 27 months....

Nova and Temple in the same conference in football would be stupid (So they will probably do it), and neither one of them draw dick on football and help their AQ status at all. The other conferences Presidents and AD's are already about to cut the Big East loose from BCS AQ. One of those could work if the other 5 teams are either 1) A top team from a BCS conference or 2) A BCS buster or a team with a proven track record of winning against BCS teams that are a TV draw.
Besides, none of this is set in stone. Teams can still change their minds, the Big East can easily lose more of their current members, and commitments could be broken.

Thank goodness you are not in charge. That statement is irrational and not within the spirit of amateur athletics. This isn't about money, it's about what's best for the universities and their students.
haha miko you are in prime troll form today.

I'm glad you chimed in. With Boise also poised to join the BE, it adds an additional layer of security and stability. That now gives 5 schools that want to be in the BE: Boise, Temple, UCF, ECU and Nova. If you ask SMU and UH, I think they would be interested too. Navy would commit if it looks more stable. A major way to show a commitment to Navy is to allow Pitt and SU out early without paying the exit fees. That demonstrates a commitment to Navy and the new potential invites.

This is comical, Pitt signed a contract, they knew what was going to happen if they switched conferences. Its not as though the the Big East said surprise there's an exit fee and a waiting period.

Too bad it's true. It is about institutional fit. The rest of the BE schools told both Pitt and Syracuse that your kind is not welcome here. Pitt and SU wanted to see the BE go in one direction; however, most did not share their vision. So Pitt and SU did the best thing they could to ensure that the universities and students continued to have a great college experience. In fact, Pitt and SU were the noblest of the universities in the BE. It would have been easy to stick with the BE and go with the flow. However, at significant risk to both schools, Pitt and SU made bold moves in the hopes of ensuring the students and the spirit of collegiality remained at the forefront of both universities.

Hold on. Big East had a vision? When did this happen?

There is nothing I'm reading saying that ECU and Nova are on the inside track right now but your point is taken. Why allow everybody to move by at least 2013?
