...would it still be the same truck? Think about it.
isn't that a Johnny Cash song?

It might be a better newer truck

Your part ain't the muffler! 02-13-banana
I had a guitar that I did that to over a period of years. By the time I was finished, I bought a body off ebay, put all the old parts on it, and I swear it played better than the one I had "upgraded". Unfortunately it's not the same way with conferences. Back to your answer, No it's not the same truck.

The new parts on the football side are an improvement. I wish I could say the same about basketball, but I can't.
No, but it would still be a Ford truck.
Big East football should just change its name to Big USA football. I do like the additions of temple and ucf but ouch if both have to pay big exit fees, not sure its worth it if the sec/big 12 /acc pick off big east members. This is not a bad 8 team set up:

uconn
rutgers
temple
wvu
cincy
livlle
usf
ucf

to pair with the 8 catholic school's, than bring in up to 4 football only school's. Yet, the problem is who knows what the base of the big east will be after other conference moves.
It would be much newer and would run better because you got rid of the rusting has-been's (yes, thats you pitt and cuse)
What if you buy a puppy and chop his nuts off?

Hahaha...good one! Did you feel this way before Pitt and SU left the BE? I'm amazed that no one thought Pitt and SU were dead weight a month ago...

Same question my philosophy professor asked me way back in 1989...only sub the truck with Theseus' ship. Maybe he was a prophet and was exploring the ramifications of what was coming to the Big East?

Haha, except I couldn't use the ship of Theseus thought here. Since most CFB fans are into beer, babes, BBQ and NASCAR, I thought a truck was more appropriate. But I didn't want to open the can of worms about whether Ford, Chevy or Dodge makes the best trucks, so I didn't include a brand. Someone already tried to hijack the thread by calling this hypothetical truck a Ford...

Apparently Dr. Lou did...

Not that his opinion is important at all but he does believe it.

...and where are all those UCF fans that keep insisting East Carolina doesn't get mentioned anymore and are now off the table??? Sure mentioned here...and plenty of articles in the past few days. Selective memory, I guess.

Well lets put it this way, I didn't think either would win the conference in football this year. 1 BCS game in the last 10 seasons (combined)...since football is all that apparently matter is realignment its not end of the world that they left.

Huh? I haven't seen any UCF fans say anything other than we would like ECU to be invited along with us. A large percentage of UCF fans are interested in maintaining an annual game with ECU, preferably as conference mates. Stop picking fights with UCF fans.

25 years later when the trends fade and the value has dropped, the owner looks at and says "damn I wish I had kept it original?"

In that scenario you are looking at exactly what is going on with the Big East. The Big East name is a legal entity and adding all new members would not change the fact that it was still the Big East conference from a legal standpoint.

Just as the truck from a legal standpoint would still be the same truck even though you replaced all the parts...The key is the legal element of the vehicle which is the VIN#....It would still have the same VIN# so from a legal perspective it is the same vehicle.
