Next weeks Business Courier will quote Cox that it is The University Of Cincinnati not the University Of Basketball. It will take years to rebuild our program after Xavier Phil and Ohio State Nancy get done with. I just hope there will be enough of us left to pick up the pieces.
Again, I never realized there was any problem with academics.
Again, The perception that the basketball team consists only of thugs is ridiculous and more so ridiculous considering the people who perpetuate it.

What a profound statement by pcox. We were all unaware that UC was in-fact a university. Thats what all those graduation stories were regarding the basketball players...I was clueless... Thanks for setting me straight phil.
One question for Mr. Cox, Nancy Z and the Crew... IF in fact, the mission of OUR university is so wholeheartedly and onesidedly about academics, and IF academics are SOOOOOOO much more important than the basketball (and by extension football) teams... then
<span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:red'> What was so important about UC joining the Big East?</span></span>

Why did you spend untold thousands of tax payer dollars that could have gone to professors or libraries or books or making the campus wi-fi or whatever? Why did you waste all those dollars to do Varsity Village instead of hitting up the donors for new academic buildings? Please Mr. Cox - stop insulting my intelligence. Everyone with half a brain (maybe that doesn't include you and the BOT) knows the PRIMARY mission of the University is education, but we also know that the best advertisement/marketing/publicity machine we have is Bob Huggins' basketball team and Mark Dantonio's football squad. That is why you sold your collective souls to get out of CUSA and into the Big East! Now someone on the BOT, please grow a pair and say so out loud!

04-cheers
As one's head gets further up one's butt, the talk tends to get muffled. Let him kieep talking and we'll all notice the muffled sounds coming from his mouth.

This university is poorly managed. We need a new president and a whole new board of trustees. This is ridiculous.

How can we get Nancy fired?
Accuse her of sexual harassment or get her drunk and let her drive

But lets not really do that
Why can't it be both!?!?! Take Duke for instance, they have a GREAT academic reputation and Lord knows their basketball program speaks for itself! There are others out there, but that's the first one that came to mind. I just don't understand why it has to be one or the other! And if Zim is naive enough to think that a strong athletic program doesn't grow a University, then she's a complete moron (well I guess we already knew that). Half of what is learned in college is the experience and what is the college experience w/out good athletics. Who wants to go watch a lowsy team!?!?

Duke is a private university. UC is a state school.

Duke has a beautiful campus which allows them to attract the top of the line student athletes. You cannot say the same about Clifton.

Having a great academic institution with oustanding athletic programs would take quite some time at UC. I don't think people are willing to wait.
