Less than 800 tickets remain for this weekends games vs UAH... I see this as a very GOOD sign to start the season off...There is NO reason why Lawson shouldn't sell out each and every night, no matter who we play. I would imagine these 800 tickets have to be some standing room only?

And there is a deal (which there usually has always been, by using your football ticket stub, you can get $5 hockey tickets for Saturday's game)

LETS GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Almost one more day!!! 04-rock
I think that the school is starting to appreciate season ticket holders for the first time in a decade or more. Jim loved the students because they supported him no matter how poorly the teams did. He had his back to us season ticket holders and didn't care when our numbers decreased dramatically. Maybe it will change.
On Monday I ordered football and hockey tickets. I am a bit disappointed that the ticket office charged me full price for the hockey tickets, in light of the "deal".

When I was ordering my tickets, they told me that there were very limited options getting four seats together. I ended up in section 18, but in the fourth row; which concerns me. Nothing else was available higher up. I am concerned with the bench and glass being in our way. Does anyone know if row four is high enough?
Row 4 will be just near the top of the glass level I believe Brovol....I think you will be ok. And if the games are selling out now, against UAH, when 3 years ago, and even last year, we would have maybe 2,000. I can't imagine how loud Lawson will be when Michigan State or Notre Dame comes in to town, and how hard it will be able to get tickets, especially if the broncos are doing well at that point.....

Thanks for the insight Dan. I hope you are right.

I agree with your analysis about ticket sales too. I must admit it was nice for me to be able in the past to get tickets last minute. I usually decide last minute to travel to Kzoo for games, and never had problems getting seats. Now, hopefully, I will need more advanced planning. I will gladly pay that "price of success", earned by winning games. I would love it if we had the same issue in football and basketball.
Not Sure if I should buy two season tickets (live 1.5 hrs away can't go to all games) or just donate to the team through the Gary fund. I would think the University would value ticket sales more.
Welcome wmu2003....your first post! Yes...ticket sales will help the program. Remember you can donate the tickets you don't use. I'm sure that others on this site can help.....wouldn't it be great to send some young hockey player, say with his Dad, to a WMU game?

Pssst....you might not have gotten the memo, but girls play and love hockey, too. Hockey gear is way cooler than that frou-frou figure skating stuff.
Taz.....note I said "young hockey player".....Dads and daughters usually could really use the time together. But, point well made!
2000 At the game tonight. Disappointed in the turn out.

Many fewer students. Competed with the Home Coming parties. Town folk are all won over yet.
I attended last nights game. Although I realize it wasn't against a powerhouse, the crowd was very disappointing. Thoughts of sold out crowds, and bigger new stadiums should quiet. We have a very good team, and a great student section, but lousy community support, and I don't see that changing soon.

As a long time season ticket holder I can say that this has been a neglected segment. For most years the students have been the priority. Free hot dogs, free admission, shirts, etc, etc while incentives to buy season tickets has not been there at all. After Jim became coach, I watched as each season there were more and more empty seats. Between the lack of appreciation and the lousy hockey many long time season ticket holders found better things to do. Eventually, good hockey will bring some back but it might take a while. This area has been stagnating for many years.
Crowds will be better when A. The opponent is better and B. it's not right after a football game. That's a lot of sports in a day for most people. Hell, the students were bored with last night's game by the third period.. most of us stayed, but we were entertaining ourselves more than the game was.
Don't forget the Tigers game was on as well, First game of the series against the Rangers, and Verlander was pitching it. It's been five years since the Tigers were still playing at this point in the season. That had to have played some part in the low attendance.

I think this was the main reason, along with the usual football fans who'd rather watch UM or MSU or ND than cheer on our Broncos.

Student section was great - way more full than I recall my last couple years in Kzoo, which were during part of the cellar known as the end of the Culhane era.
