Just got not from dad of Connar Tava, 6-6 Warren De La Salle forward, that his son will be a Bronco. Big, tough versatile kid who does a lot of things well, though maybe not one stand-out skill.
Welcome, Connar! Always glad to welcome new members to the Bronco family. You made a good choice. 04-rock

Starting at 7:30 of the video my favorite part of Tava's game, can pass it. DLS runs a bunch of their 1/2 court through him.

Might surprise some that Tava suddenly popped up as a D1 recruit, but colleges love De La Salle kids. Tava had a hurt ankle in spring AAU then Team Detroit 17s kind of vanished in July, so his name wasn't out there as much. But when I saw him in June at the Izzo Shootout, the word was "all the MAC wants him" and Northwestern was interested.
Thanks Steve
Thanks for the news, Steve. Sounds like Connar is a solid player.

What is his game best suited to play? The 3 or 4 spot?
After watching his video, I'd label him an exceptional passer for a WF. Looks better on the baseline inbounds than anyone we have now. :(
By the video, which are of course highlights, the kid appears to have some skills. Doesn't appear to be real athletic but skills (that make others better-like passing) and competitive toughness are a legit off set.
Good passer equals high IQ. Seeing it before fully develops and being able to execute isnt teachable. Big plus.

Looking forward, I know of no bonafide bigs that stand out in 2012 that WMU has a known published interest. I don't consider McCormick a big. From what I read he is a taller Derek Drews.

Could still use athleticism up front and in the backcourt. The loss of the three seniors in Mikey, Demetrius and Flen can't be minimized now that Juwan is gone too.

With 3 'ships left incoming must be MAC title level ready from day 1.

What "spots" are questionable. Not the wing with Hutch and post with Stain. All others are subject to conjecture.

Can David Brown remains healthy?
Will one of the two incoming freshman (Ritchie or Hoerdemann) be able to fill in for Mikey at a championship level?
Can Shayne offset the loss of Flen inside with an ability to use his length effectively at the 4 on both ends?
Where will effective MAC championship level depth come from at all spots? This year Brown and Howard, both who have talent to start, were coming off the bench at possible multiple positions. Both to provide an impact on both ends. Next year (2012-13?)

Spring of 2012 may need to provide both bloom and harvest for the 12-13 campaign.
Looks like a "glue" guy to me. Nothing stands out athletically. If he is going to play out on the wing in the MAC, he could get killed by quicker forwards, however, I do like his skill set. He uses both hands proficiently, anticipates well defensively, and sees the floor well.

For those of you who are a little older, could be an Aaron Toothman type, with hopefully a little more range.
Hmmm, he's a cracker.

We don't roll like that on the westside of Michigan, contray to what Knucklehead thinks. Not even in stirring the pot. Crass and classless.
Side by side on my piano keyboard, oh Lord, why can't we?

Aaron Toothman (he went to high school with my cousins)... haven't heard that name in a long time, hopefully Tava will be a little better then Aaron, he never really developed into what I hoped he'd be. Those were fun years to be a broncos fan, I was young but I still remember the ben handlogten years, the first year my dad bought season tickets for us, and the year I really became a bronco fan.
