Hey guys. I might be the only living person who is an alum of both Western and St. Cloud. Let me just say that I'm happy they're both in the National and I'm looking at coming back to Kalamazoo for the first time in about 10 years when they play each other. I grew up and currently live in Madison, so I know quite a bit about the WCHA teams.

Great! Happy to have you on board.
Welcome aboard. The more the merrier. 04-cheers

Welcome, bro. I'm a Western grad who actually owns a St. Cloud jersey, an authentic one. My Dad got me one when he was in St. Cloud for business. It's the late 90s style. I've never worn it, but I'm glad to have it.

Except for Miami, I don't know a lot about our, soon to become, new conference members. I would appreciate any insights.

Before we accept you, and treat you as badly as we treat each other, we need to know where your loyalties truly lie. When the Broncos play St Cloud, who will you root for? And dont try giving us some BS politically correct answer that fails to project your clear favorite.

We have ways of making you talk!

Especially Brovol, the judge. He gots connections. If you're not careful, you could end up on "double secret probation."

Where did you do your undergrad? WMU or SC?

You're all worthless and weak! Now drop and give me twenty!
Welcome! I too am new to this board...and yes...in the name of Bronco hockey...we destroy each other every day! Just kidding....you'll love it. I follow St.Cloud to see how Nic Dowd's career is progressing.

Except for Miami, I don't know a lot about our, soon to become, new conference members. I would appreciate any insights.

North Dakota - They have a strong tradition going back as far as I can remember. They used to have small quick forwards that would score a lot, but in the last decade they have been getting stud players. Think Zach Parise, Jonathan Toews, etc. Their building was funded by billionaire Ralph Engelstad who owned the Imperial Palace casino in Vegas. Their arena is probably the best dedicated hockey facility in the NCAA. Perennial contender in the WCHA. They have a very good pilot program like WMU.

Denver - Gwozdecky is a former Wisconsin player. Great coach at recruiting and developing their players. Never have been there on a road trip, but it sounds like the atmosphere isn't that great at the games. Paul Statsny and Matt Carle are probably their two best players in recent memory. Perennial contender in the WCHA.

CC - They usually finish in the top 5 in the WCHA. Two Hobey Baker winners in the last decade.

UMD - Their coach has ties to North Dakota. Really nice arena. Their old arena used to have a sheet of ice that was so small that it resembled pond hockey. You used to be able to go to their curling club during intermission and drink. I'm not sure if that's the case anymore. Plenty of places to eat and drink near their stadium. They had a long run of futility, but Sandelein seems to have turned the ship around.

St. Cloud - They have a great student section. The low ceiling at their building causes it to get really loud. The stadium currently looks like a bomb shelter, but it should be really nice once the $30 million renovation is complete. Motzko is a good coach and plays a wide-open style of hockey. He is St. Cloud alum and was the assistant coach at Minnesota when they won their most recent championships. There are no bars/restaurants to eat at within walking distance of the stadium, but most downtown bars have a shuttle service to the games. I would recommend staying at the Best Western downtown if you make the trip as it's really close to the bars and restaurants. Pretty good tradition for being a young D1 program. Some current players in the NHL include Ryan Malone and Andreas Nodl.

I've been on road trips to UND and UMD, and I obviously lived in St. Cloud. If you plan on heading there let me know and I can give you some pointers.

Very interesting. Thanks.
Hey guys....should we shun DG3 for rooting for SCSU against our beloved Broncos? I say "NO".,..he's at least an honest man! BUT....when his beloved Huskies are euthanized....or at least neutered by the Broncos...we can laugh like hell and hand him a crying towel. What say you?

I'm hoping that we'll meet up in two years. Share some tall tales perhaps.

Here is the deal. I understand and appreciate your predicament. Having said that, you certainly should be able to respect our insistence on treating you as an "Enemy of the Bronco Nation". You can visit, and we will be respectful, but we will not share our secrets with you. If you are not with us, you are against us.

There is a category between "loyal to the death Broncos", and those who are connected to WMU but are more committed to another school. In order to acquire such status, you must first decapitate a Chippewa. If you are interested, please send Desert Bronco a private message, as he has all the equipment.

Didn't really notice or care about them when they were in the CCHA, either. My lasting memory of them is Western sweeping them and saving Culhane's job for another few years around 2006.
