Been inactive for two years because of a neck injury. He's eligible for this season and could get a medical waiver for next. Word is he needs a lot of work to get into game shape.

He replaces Joe Mitchell, who left for Wichita State at the end of the summer.

that's a blow, mitchell was a pretty well regarded recruit and belton was slow and unproductive at cincy and hasn't played in 2 years. unless, he's reborn by p90x i doubt he's good for more than a few fouls and a big bump in the team food budget.

He's a body and that's all it takes to get minutes at the forward position these days.
so when he is playing w dj cooper and stevie taylor which end of the floor do you have him stay at? lord knows big ken ain't gonna run w those kids.

btw, did mitchell leave cuz he didn't like OU or was he gonna get buried on the depth chart by cooper, taylor and kellogg?
I heard he was going to get heavy minutes.
Rimshot
Even if he is just a space eater off the bench he will be an asset if Groce needs a big in case of a triple ot game. Ohio lost to Miami last year because they ran out of bigs. Belton atleast gives Groce 5 more fouls inside. Every MAC teams needs that 7 footer off the end of bench to atleast help when the team gets into foul trouble. Belton is likely third string at the 5 for Ohio. He doesn't have to be great, but able to buy Groce a couple minutes until halftime when his other bigs are sitting with 2 fouls and Groce doesn't want his best bigs to get a third at the end of the half. Groce likely doesn't want to Kent State, Buffalo and Miami pulling down double digit offensive rebounds against us because we are forced to play a 6-6 guy at center. Belton atleast is a legit 6-9 and with that bult atleast will slow down Green, Mavunga and Mccrae or atleast make them earn two shots at the line instead of a bucket and one.
