Well, looks like Army's out. Air Force and Navy FB-only, it is!

so once they expand, do the bball schools plan on splitting? ECU, UCF, or Army, Navy Air Force bball doesn't sound like something the BE bballers would want.
What Garbage. Conference USA part 2
Well if Air Force went to the Big East they would have to put their hoops and other sports somewhere else. If we would not split BYU they sure as hell will not do it with the Falcons.
Wouldn't it make more sense for Air Force to go all-in with the Big 12? I'm hearing rumors they're one of the schools OU wanted in order to stay.

Yea... I think AF makes a lot more sense in the Big XII.
I just can't see us surviving....

The Big 12 will need at lease one team if not two

The SEC will need one more, so three more teams our Leaving the Big East..

Going to the SEC or to the Big 12..

And hear how I see It.. Were screwed, sure hope I am proven wrong.

Give it a chance. Cincy was once part of C-USA also. Are you of the opinion that Syracuse's football program is currently better than UCF or ECU's (assuming these schools are what's meant by "aggressively expanding")? I would doubt that. Sure it's a hit to basketball, but with the hyrbid still intact basketball will be fine (think Louisville, G-Town, Villanova, St. John's, UConn, Marquette, etc. and you can still drool).

I saw it on twitter somewhere, damned if I can find it again.

OU wants one of or all 3 schools:
BYU
TCU
Air Force

Just hope the SEC takes Mizzou and the Big XII takes BYU and Air Force. That way Houston, UCF, and ECU are still on the table. It may be CUSA part 2 but the AQ bid will be safe and secure. I don't know why I've been more positive than most throughout this whole deal. I just didn't understand Texoma going to the PAC 12 to form a 16 team league to begin with. Why would a school like Oklahoma get so upset that they have to leave the league just to accept them in another. That doesn't add up to me. Like Oklahoma and Texas wouldn't have the same problems just because they're in a different league. With that said, I think the BE-or new league-will be fine. Just make sure Navy and Nova aren't added.

If this is about football, recruiting, and market, why would the SEC actually need to expand? The SEC holds 7/13 BCS championships, and should have been able to play for another one in '04 to save us from watching a 55-14 beatdown of OU by USC.

It would be some sh1t if after all of this the SEC turns down A&M.
I can see AF going to the B12 but the BE makes no logical sense. Navy may decide to jump in. It has not been that long since they were in CUSA and may want to get back with some of those former foes and have a path in FB to a major bowl. Evidently Army has declined to join and is off the table. Navy may be taking this opportunity to "one up" Army.

Navy would be a great addition to the BE. They would be competitive and would help fill seats of everyone's stadium. They also are a good TV draw. I think Army and Navy would be great...but...Navy is the most attractive as a BE candidate of the SA's.

Anyone that thinks ECU's AD is not going to push for play BB in BE is insane. Do we suck in BB...yes. The main reason is...We have NEVER had anything to offer a kid. We are within 100 miles of the two best BB schools in America and god knows how many others in NC. We simply are isolated in Eastern part of the state with nothing to offer a BB player.
I firmly believe that being in the BE in BB will allow us to recruit quality players and be competitive within a couple of years in the BE. We have a fine coach and an AD who is committed to the game. We just need something to sell recruits.03-idea

The hit to basketball I was referring to was the loss of Pitt and Syracuse, not the addition of UCF and/or ECU. I agree with you, that given the opportunity to recruit in a better conference, both UCF and ECU can improve their programs drastically. And I firmly believe that given the chance both UCF and ECU can thrive in the Big East. Sorry if you misinterpreted my comment the wrong way.

At the rate that conference is going nearly any team with a pulse will be able to compete. Joking aside UCF and ECU could go in and be very competitive especially if their coaches are any good. I would not think as well as Louisville did when they first came in as they were much better when they joined than where ECU and UCF are currently but they will certainly be in the thick of things.

Funny headline....as that is what many wanted YEARS ago...as most knew that having the smallest BCS Football Conf (just 8 members) while other BCS Conf had 11-12 teams (and now 13 or more), many predicted that the Big East could be devastated if a few of their football programs left...and the Big East would have to go into panic mode to find replacments.

SEC went to 12 football members back in 1992...whereas in 2011, Big East still had just 8 football members.

One conf had the VISION that football was king...another conf had a basketball vision...and never cared what was best for their football conf and didn't have a clue on how to maximize football revenue.

Aggressive Expansion now??

Well yeah...conf has just 6 current teams left in it! (TCU still on the fence...obviously praying that Big 12 changes their mind and invites them...even though word out of the Big 12 last night about them staying together and STILL rejecting TCU....but I think that view might change over the coming days/weeks).
