So, my wife and I have decided to take the plunge and open a business. It is our desire to open a donut shop in Atoka, Tennessee. We believe that the community is ripe for such a business and we could make a living running the shop there. I'm not looking to make a quick buck just something I can call my own. We are just simple people with the belief that American dream is still alive.

The reason I started this thread is because my wife and I would like any input from people who live in the community. If you live in the area please do not hesitate to give us your opinion. I do have a question though.....

I understand that at one time a donut shop had opened in Atoka but closed shortly after opening. Does anyone know why?

Also, if you know anyone or own a donut shop we would love to sit with you and discuss the business and how to get started. We are currently looking for start-up capital and would like any input from bankers about business lines of credit.

If anyone can or would like to help us just PM me.

Thanks....

I like donuts. I also like money. I wish you the best of luck in your venture.

You are correct sir!
Think outside of the "box"...

For instance, a savory, pulled pork-topped donut?

Only you could come up with that concept!

I needed the laugh. +2
Try to get on the end of a strip mall where u can have a drive-thru window. Make sure the parking lot has easy access from both directions.
If you plan on being open more than just the morning hours you need to add an icre cream bar or short order grill something to get people in the store in the afternoons.

Yep, we've thought of all the above. I'm leaning more towards soft serve ice-cream with fried goods such as corn dogs, soft drinks, sports drinks, and grain items such as muffins and also bagels. The drive through window may be possibility.

Thanks!
I would also suggest custom cakes and cup cakes. There is a lot of money and folks pay some big money for those cakes.

I sent you an email with some other info.

Like I said above, I'm not in it to make a lot of money just to live my dream and I'm very aware of the po folks. I'm one of them.
Best of luck! I don't eat donuts but if I make it to Atoka I'll make an exception. I already own one business but, like you, my wife and I have just started a second one and I'm really pumped. Nothing like working for yourself, although mine is out of my house. There's no rest, but you're tired for yourself, not someone else.
Pulled - Pork - Donuts...

I'm tellin" ya, that's money right there!
Go to Gibson's and sit in a booth for 24 hours. Repeat everything that they did.
I think the old store was next to the pizza hut or maybe behind kfc where the cig. store is located. Had to be location as to why it closed. Neither was a great spot. Not many open bays in the strips that I can think of . Would be nice if next to JTs but that is full and kinda high-end prop.. Maybe down toward Rosemark by Fastimes at Tracey rd would work.

You might not be that far off. Maple & Bacon donuts are very popular. Pork fat does rule, after all.

That is the information I am looking for.

Do you happen to know if the product was any good? What did they serve? What was the customer service like?

Thanks for your help.
