More than just signage at Rynearson.
Still need to get Jason Jones and T.J. Lang's names up on the ring of honor! Drives me nuts, this lack of detail. It's like great players stopped playing at EMU in 2002. The names would fit neatly on the wall and it just needs to get done. If EMU is going to honor its great players from the past, you've got to honor all the great players. I mean we are talking about 2 NFL STARTERS here. Buy some letters, finish the job.
We shouldn't limit either to NFL players from EMU. Daniel Holtzclaw has earned a spot on that wall to name one.

Agreed. How about Walter Church, Eric Deslauriers?

I heard EMU will be adding to the wall before year end (not sure why the delay), lets give them time... It have only been 3 weeks. It took 3 years to get done what we have now. 04-rock 04-jawdrop
Have always liked Rynearson Stadium with the overall layout, access, and proximity to your b-ball facility...
First class all the way...
The wins will come... Then, hopefully the fan support...

Agree.

It used to be 'cold' looking without an real color but the Fathead work added a lot to the appearance. The Convo and now IPF also help.

Very easy access. Being so close to U.S. 23 and I 94. Someone could get on 94 on the east side of Detroit and zoom to 94/23 and then drive a couple surface street miles to Rynearson and free parking! Or next year drive from Toledo to Rynearson. 02-13-banana

As 'Rocket indicates when taken as a totality, the west athletic campus has a LOT going for it.

Crowds were large in '95 so I assume that they will return as soon as the wins do.
Let's not kid ourselves, Rynearson Stadium is a disaster. It has no character, it is way too far from campus which keeps the students away, it is a non-descript pile of gray cement, it has a track around the field which means the spectators are way too far away from the action on the field. I kinda wish they would blow it up and start over, preferably on main campus.

There isn't enough room on campus for a new football stadium. It's packed tight enough as it is, with not nearly enough parking either (I've had to walk across campus for a few classes just because of how little parking there is.). I have no problem with the location of the stadium, especially considering most EMU students are commuters. It is a little bland, but I agree with Steve that the Fathead stuff has added some character.

I love the Convo, though, and that entire complex is well mapped out. If Murphy can turn us into a MAC title contender, that place could really be incredible.

Agreed. Heck, I would even add Andrew Wellock. He was a finalist for the Groza Award in his junior year.

No to all three. If we're going to have a standard, why change it because your favorite guys didn't make it?

Holtzclaw was a superb freshman who didn't get a lot better. I could make the case that Ken Philpot, Scott Russell and Jason Short were all better. Philpot got a shot with the Lions and Short played three years in the NFL. Is he on the ring?

If we have no standard we'll end up with underserving athletes on the ring, like we do in the Athletic Hall of Fame. Rodney Slater is my favorite example.

Slater was a RB in the mid '70s. If you try to find him in our record books, good luck. He never lead the team in rushing, or receiving, or rushing attempts. I don't remember exactly what it was, but I tried figuring out his career rushing yardage and I believe it was somewhere around 500-700 yards, not much to brag about for a single season let alone a career.

Slater was well connected. He became Bill Clinton's transportation secretary and arranged for Clinton to drop his pants in Ypsilanti. Rodney was inducted to the Athletic HOF in the very next ceremony following Clinton's commencement speech at EMU. It shouldn't be who you know, or who likes you, but your performance.

Give me a break. The standard should not be who excels in the NFL, but who excelled in their EMU career and those were all examples of players who excelled at EMU and in the MAC.

let's not forget about kainoa akina, either.

Maybe if the current coaching staff employed an offensive mind like Rasnick, they'd come back more quickly.

Rasnick and Genyk both knew how to put an offense together. That said, I think English and Karcher are doing it the right way by building a culture of toughness both offensively and defensively.

I kind of figured it would be tight trying to squeeze in a football stadium on campus. But...what about the far north side of campus behind the dorms, where the old softball fields used to be on Huron River? There is the big, largely unused parking lot behind the police station by Pittman, and I bet you could build a classic, intimate, 20,000 seat stadium there.

The Fathead stuff has made Rynearson 100% better, I just wish they would paint the cement walls green.

The Convo is a first class facility, but as far as atmosphere, it will never compare with Bowen. When Braun had that team rolling, Bowen Fieldhouse was absolutely rocking.

Obviously, Andy Schmitt has to make the cut.

The standard is not "who excels in the NFL." Some of those guys were there barely long enough to get a cup of coffee, let alone excel.
