There is no excuse for what Pitt and Cuse have done. The honorable thing to do was to let the other members know what they intended to do.
Obviously they are not honorable. Were it not for the $$ involved they might actually feel a little shame and embarrassment.
Even if they wanted to keep it quiet and not tell, the rest of the confernce teams, AT LEAST give Marinatto a headsup either right before or right after the applications were sent.

Very interesting name by the forum ncaabbs.com

Things are going swimmingly.

The possession of unlimited power will make a despot of almost any man.

Buy-buy!

Great post! But things are not "going swimmingly". We are in turmoil an unable to possess unlimited power.
Cuse, Pitt = Scum.

Agreed, especially Pittsburgh...the BE could have signed a deal with ESPN netting around 15 million a year for the FB teams which is still better than the ACC. However, Pittsburgh was one of the main proponents of waiting for a better deal in the open market, and now they screw the BE that was on the verge of landing a massive television deal in the PAC-12 ballpark. I hope the BE and the schools file a massive lawsuit against these schools. I sincerely hope both of these programs crumble just like BC did. I can understand WVU pining for the SEC, and the assortment of schools to the B1G but the ACC is a lateral move. I'm disgusted by the lack of loyalty from both of these schools as well as the deception. Glad both of those programs lost today and I will enjoy watching them lose for the foreseeable future.
very sad day for the big east, when they smile in your face, the back stabbers. we will know more next week, i'd be surprised if the eers leave.01-lauramac2
If Mike Slive comes to Morgantown next week, you may get an announcement about WVU moving to the SEC...

I'll be interested in seeing if Louisville was one of the 10 who contacted the ACC. I suspect they are.

Obvious to see where you're going here, but it's off base. Check out the Jurich interview in the other thread. A large point of discussion is going through the whole process while leading the Big East committee (something Jurich was not doing), then not even notifying the commissioner (even if he's inept) and letting him hear it from a reporter. Pitt's admins can rot.

Don't even go there. This past month, you can bet that everybody's contacted everybody. Contacting a conference and applying for membership in it are two very different things. I do hope Cuse and Pitt fans will excuse themselves from this board and join the ACC one.
The Big East is a dysfunctional conference. Having that many non-football schools was a ridiculous concept from the very beginning. For too long, decisions were made to appease the basketball schools. Football drives the boat except the Big East which is a mistake. Glad that we are moving over to the ACC....

I want to say, just by way of preface, that I don't disagree with Cubanbull's comment. But I also want to ask, how much "notice" is required in situations like this?

If Pitt/Syracuse had given Marinatto the word on Tuesday, would that have satisfied the requirements of honor? How far in advance did they have to give the heads' up?

It's not liek they would have told them months in advance. But you don't let your conference mates find out info like this on the internet or through twitter.
You can't blame Pitt and Cuse for doing what was in their best interest
Pitt Chancellor Nordenberg in 03 Big East lawsuit against ACC: "This is a case that involves broken commitments, secret dealings, breaches of fiduciary responsibility, the misappropriation of conference opportunities, and predatory attempts to eliminate competition."

Mr Nordenberg as Chair Big East Presidents showed lack of ETHICS in rallying his troops to bolt to ACC- serving as # 1 Prez in Big East!

Obviously he learned well. He executed all of those things perfectly!
