Dear Friends,
After reading the posts about some fan that has not missed a game since 1996, I don't think, it's that wonderful, especially, if he was thrown out of games in which Eastern was involved.
What I am about to tell everyone, is not meant to sound like I deserve to be placed on a pedestal, or deserve any special recognition, because I believe every student, and every alum, should be doing the same thing that I did, and am doing.
I started at Eastern in 1960, graduated in 1965. I attended every home game during that period, and some away games. I became a season ticket holder in 1968, and remained one until 1998. During that time, maybe missing a half dozen home games. I gave up on Eastern for the next couple of years, because, I just couldn't take the losing anymore. Came back in 2000, and have again maybe missed a half dozen games or so, up to this season.
My point? There are many people like myself, who are in the stands, game after game, year after year, because I, and they, want to show our support for our school and our team.
Since you have no idea how and why I kicked please don't judge me. The 3 games I kicked of for football was because I was told to sit down and when I explained it would cause me a great deal of pain to do so and I refused I was asked to leave (EMU has a no standing policy) But that only goes if people complain and the people sitting behind me (Army, CMU where two of them) and they came in after I was there and me explaining to them that I have a disability and sitting was very painful. Even though ther was 10,000 empty sit that THEY could have moved to there are only 64 places for people with disability and only 8 good ones. 15 others where at baseketball games and compared what I have heard others there scream at ref mine was mild. And one softball game we had the number one strikeout pitcher in the MAC she pitched to 9 batters and the umpire didn't make one strike call but did call 5 walks the only strikes they made where foulballs! I question his ability to see, many times.

I got kicked out once because the ref said that my walking stick was a weapon, anything that can be deamed as confrontational can get you kicked so before you pass judgement find out a few facts. I fight for my team but I don't call the ref, players or coaches names or curse at them unlike many others that I have heard. I am right next to the court so I get a lot of attention but I have talked to many of the refs and most think that I am just silly and the good for the most part ignore me which.
And here are the sports home games I attended 1998 nearly all softball, 1997 nearly all baseball, most 1998 soccer, I make less than half of these swimming mens and womens , most of the wrestling, most of the gymnastics, missed 10 over the last 16 years basketball mens and missed only 8 womens, track and field seen several times indoor home games. I have made a few away games but because of my limited ability to sit I can't see attending many because most of their handicapped seating is even worse than ours.
and I don't need to brag ether I don't need to the teams thanks me everytime I see them. Actualy I feel bad because there are many more people that attend games just as much as I do they are just not so tawdry. I didn't give myself the moniker "superfan" that was given to me by the womens basketball team in 1998 because no other students where showing up at their games and even though I was the only one there I was just as loud for them as I was for the men's team.
What a silly thread. Thank goodness for all the wonderful alumni and fans that continue to support EMU. I am not a student at EMU but my son is and I will always support EMU as long as I live.

I agree.
Dear Fans,
If I upset someone, or anyone, I am sorry. I wasn't judging anyone. emussuperfan, you need to chill out a bit. I was only trying to point out that there are other people who have been supporting Eastern, and its teams, for a lot longer than fifteen years.
I'm glad we're all fans on this board. Hopefully we can respect each other's opinions.
