I just got out of the hospital Monday after 5 days of the most intense sickness that I have ever had. If you have never had salmonella before, just let me say that I believe you may have to die to feel better. 18 hours of uncontrollable body functions is humbling to say the least. My body was spitting out fluids almost as fast as they could pump them into me. I know I talk about my wife sometimes, but I'm not sure I would have made it without her care.
Glad you're back!

Wow. Glad you're okay now. Never had it, don't want it. Any idea where you caught it?

Pretty sure it came from a Mi Pueblo in Pontotoc, MS. We went there to buy a travel trailer. My wife didn't get sick. Her sister did, though not nearly as bad as I did.

Is that Bob Gibson for the Cards? One of the very best at his position.

I met him here in Memphis about 12 or 13 years ago. He was doing a signing here in Cordova, I got him to sign his autobiography. Weird, though, he signed the cover and would not sign the book itself. And he did not look happy about being there, either. But man, could that guy throw a baseball.

"(Hank Aaron told me) 'Don't dig in against Bob Gibson, he'll knock you down. He'd knock down his own grandmother if she dared to challenge him. Don't stare at him, don't smile at him, don't talk to him. He doesn't like it. If you happen to hit a home run, don't run too slow, don't run too fast. If you happen to want to celebrate, get in the tunnel first. And if he hits you, don't charge the mound, because he's a Gold Glove boxer.' I'm like, 'Damn, what about my 17-game hitting streak?' That was the night it ended."

Gibson was one of the best. Gibson was the owner of the mound but homeplate was his too. I can't believe a movie hasn't been made about his career. The man was a bad SOB on the mound. And his record for shutouts?

Sorry to hijack your Grizz.

My nephew had salmonella as a baby - he was very ill for 2 weeks. Glad you're better now!

Correct.
I was (what I call ) deathly ill from eating a tuna sandwich from subway in Newbern . It lasted 6 days and I actually thought I was dying . In my 51 years , it was the worst that i've ever felt . My wife works in the emergeny room at DRMC and she said it was one of the worst cases she'd ever seen . 03-puke

It's not a good way to do it , but I lost 15 pounds in those 6 days

I was ready to prepare a will .
Don't mess with 'Hoot'

Gibson was a fierce competitor who rarely smiled and was known to throw brushback pitches to let batters know who was in charge, similar to his contemporary and fellow Hall of Famer Don Drysdale.[69] Even so, Gibson had good control and hit only 102 batters in his career (fewer than Drysdale's 154).
Gibson showed no mercy, even to players he liked. Gibson's closest friend on the Cardinals was first baseman Bill White, who was later traded to the Philadelphia Phillies. The first time White batted against Gibson as a Phillie, Gibson hit him on the arm with a fastball. Gibson was surly and brusque even with his teammates. When his catcher Tim McCarver went to the mound for a conference, Gibson brushed him off, saying "The only thing you know about pitching is you can't hit it."

Everyone wants to be sure you are better, I guess I am too, but I'm curious....Did the gerbil survive?

Oh, a trick question, huh? I refuse to answer. It's my constitutional right.......
