Full Version: 7 Questions for the Boise State game

1. Toledo wins the coin toss. Do you take the ball and try to ride the energy & emotion that should be in the stadium, or do you make the strategic decision to defer to the 2nd half?

2. The Glass Bowl is full! What percentage of the Bosie State Fans are actually "posers" from BG who think that this may be "their" best chance to beat the Rockets? (and that is not intended as a slight to real Brionco fans at all--have a safe and fun trip, but beware of "fans" wearing burnt orange & brown...)

3. If Bosie State has any potential weak spot right now (I said "if"), I think it may be at the Safety position. Given Toledo's personnel and play calling, how would you attack that specific position?

4. Is this the game that we see 2 running backs in the backfield at the same time for UT (not talking about short-yardage situations only)?

5. The Bosie State D-line will be by far the best one we see this season. Does UT go with more 2 tight end sets and keep them both in to block, which may help our O-line, but also makes it easier for Boise State to double-cover Page?

6. It's mid-way through the 3rd quarter in a close game (meaning UT is up by no more than 10 or down by no more than 7). UT has a 4th and 3 at the BSU 34 yard line. Do you: A) go for it, B) attempt a 51-yard FG (sigh...), or C) punt and try to pin them inside their 10 yard line (pick C! pick C!)

7. Speaking of punting, will UT keep the punt formation it used against the Buckeyes, including the rugby-style punt, or will we change that up (I am very concerned that Boise State will be able to block one now that they see the punter runs to his right and they can overload that side, which is probably what we were trying to prevent against OSU and it led to 3 penalties).
1) Rockets can move the FB against Boise(Offense is the best Defense).
Take the FB and go with it.
2)Who cares, will take any $$$ BG fans want to contribute to UT.
3)Overconfidence. Some early scoring and stops by UT will help make things a little more tenative.
4) We'll see a few more new wrinkles than a trip to the nursing home.
Wouldn't surprise me to see Owens and Dantin in the backfield. And special plays to non-starters.
5) I really don't think Boise State's DL personel is much better than OSU's. We have to spread the FB around to multiple receivers to keep Page open. If BSU is too focused on him, Eric can be used as a decoy until the Broncos adjust.
6)Kick the FG, Detmer and Casano have the leg. I like Page as a holder.
He stands up for a second and the Broncos have to stop and think.
7)Keep it, even on the OSU TD return it was missed tackles that lead to the score.
#2: Yep.

#6: Wonder if they've worked on Page kicking at all- he did in HS. I foresee a fourth down FG play where Page takes the snap as holder and then has the option to drop kick it, pitch back to himself for the run -pass option, wildcat off the hold or throw a pass to himself in the backfield , then pass downfield, then race down and catch it. I'm thinking this would be a tough play to defend.
