"We have some issues we have to resolve so that we make sure that UAB's portion is taken into account," Hoskins said. "We want to make sure we're good neighbors to everyone who is a stakeholder in and around the project."
Logan said the UAB master plan that will soon be considered for the approval by the school's trustees needs to be a factor in the ballpark's design.
"With the orientation of the stadium, it's going to be great for our fans but it's also going to be great for the community around it," Logan said. "With UAB as our nearest neighbor, I think this is going to fit in well with their master plan."
The more I've looked into it, I believe the biggest issues for UAB are:

1. The 15th Street Promenade that UAB originally ran from the Campus Green to Railroad Park; the stadium's new location would make the promenade detour around it.

2. The encroachment of the Parkside mixed use development/entertainment district into the proposed blocks that are to be transformed into classroom buildings and dorms one block east of the OCS.

I don't think either of those are huge issues. Some of the property that was originally slated for the baseball stadium next to the park is available, and as far as the greenway up 15th street, who cares if you have to walk around the stadium. Obviously UAB is on board with the plan as it is now.
I don't think those are big issues, either... just pointing out the only possible issues that I currently see.

This was the quote that got me, though: "Logan said the UAB master plan that will soon be considered for the approval by the school's trustees needs to be a factor in the ballpark's design."

I wonder if they are altering the master plan that was already presented to the board, because I thought for sure the master plan was already presented to the board for approval.
The original master plan had the ballpark on the west side, at the end of RR Park. The location has since changed to the southwest corner and across the street from RR park.

It was. I think it may just be a matter of semantics & Logan not really being involved in the UAB side of things until recently. Look at the 2000 UAB Master Plan and you'll see that not everything on there came true or exactly where it was laid out.
I like the version with the view of Birmingham's semi-skyline in the outfield's backdrop, and hopefully the right field fence will supply home run hitters a clear shot of B&A's windows...
