Has any u-verse people had an issue with the DVR not recording shows sometimes? We've had it twice already in our short 1.5 week span where it didn't record an episode of one of the series we have set to record.

Started looking into it and it seems other people have this issue too and no real word from AT&T on it. This would be a deal breaker for us and really thinking of switching back to Directv.
Never had that happen. Are you sure you had it set up right?

I personally wouldn't go back to Directv if they offered it to me for free. And I've said as much to them when they call me (several times a week) wanting me to come back. They treated me really shabby when I switched to U-verse.

My in-laws already have buyer's remorse on U-Verse. After many "fixes" including a new DVR and server, they are still having issues. Not to mention they've been over charged $300 for installation costs that were supposed to be free.
I've had a couple of friends who had to go around & around about the "supposed "free" things that U-Verse promised them to get them to switch.

One's happy enough with U-Verse to have the fight, one's regretting moving from DTV.

I keep reminding myself that at the end of the day, they're AT&T....judging from the nightmare stories I've heard from those who have their cell service, I'll stick with DirecTV.

If I had Comcast, though, I'd be gone in a heartbeat still.
I have NEVER had a problem with U-Verse. Like the poster above you couldn't pay me to go back to Dish or DTV.
My Comcast went out yet again today, and the customer rep. was snotty as hell. I'm damned close to getting UVerse, except the guy that just delivered my dryer warned me away from them.

I'm with Chi-Town...Uverse rocks. Never a problem with it and never will return to Dish or Direct.

Okay, if my disgust finally becomes too much to bear, I'll give Uverse a shot.
The two guys saying Uverse is the best thing don't live in Memphis. Those with issues do live in Memphis.

Wonder if the infrastructure here is really ready for it?

AT&T finally came out and replaced my father-in-laws port, which is on the pole. So far he hasn't had any issues after this repair. He's skeptical, but keeping an open mind. If it pukes out again, he's done with U-Verse.

This is the only reason I haven't booted Comcast. It went out again yesterday, second day in a row and at least the 20th time since July. Same routine every time, first it's only me, they schedule a tech to come out (again!), then it's an area outage and then they automatically cancel the tech. It sucks. I assume it's going to go out again within the hour, and tomorrow they switch to digital and my boxes aren't hooked up yet. Is UVerse really worse than this?
Uverse has been great for us. We have had no problems.

And you live in Memphis?

I am one of the (more than two) saying U-verse is the best thing and I live in Memphis (well, Bartlett, but same same).
We ordered Uverse because the website said it was available. The tech canceled the install the day before he was to come because they did not have enough of the system in to actually serve our house.

That was two months ago, the lady I email every two weeks has no idea what is going on.
I've had very minor issues with UVerse, overall a great switch...and I've had em all.

Those minor issues were fixed promptly, so I'm on board more than ever. As I stated in a previous thread...at some point you'll find people that have 'major' issues with each company, and they're probably all valid. Things happen...its just what you can live with in the end. I vote UVerse due to the fact its been the best overall with the fewest issues.

I live in Memphis as well.
We're taking the plunge on Friday - UVerse for TV, internet and phone. We are cautiously optimistic.
