Does anyone know if there is much advertising going on in Madison for the Soldier Field game? I would think there would be a huge demand for tickets from them considering they are now the the #9 team in the country.

But they are playing a lowly MAC team. Most of them couldn't care less.
What incentive is there for Wisconsin to advertise it? It'd be no different than advertising a road game. Wisconsin gets 1 million (and from my understanding has already been paid) no matter if there's 60,000 or 5,000 at Soldier Field.

Incentive is to have fan support to watch the #9 team in the country.

Not their job to advertise so somebody else makes money. Makes no sense.

Would you expect them to advertise when they're playing in Evanston?

Yep, they're not going to spend any money advertising. Wisconsin fans will need to decide on their own to head down to Chicago to see their top 10 ranked team.

Maybe, after a big win next week, they will decide to come down here. The ticket price is a big killer. I just had two friends from Wisconsin back out once I told them the price of tickets ($70, $86 and $101 after taxes and fees). Way too high for casual NIU fans or Wisconsin fans not willing to pay so much for a MAC opponent.

Buy them from NIU and you bypass some of the fees. You'll pay $60, $75 or $90.
The billboard for the game on 294 is pretty sweet.

NIU website takes you to ticketmaster. Regardless, $60 for crap seats is still too high for casual NIU fans.

There are no crap seats in the new Soldier Field. Every seat is really a pretty good seat.

Um, ever sit low in the endzones? I have, and I cursed the fact that I did not stay home. It was simply awful. I have also sat in the first couple rows on the sidelines. These were terrible, also. So, yes, there are bad seats at SF.
If both team are 3-0 and ranked, UW-NIU game may draw many last minute tix purchases ---if weather forecast remains stable game day.

Come on...there are crap seats.

With that said, you're preaching to the choir. I've gone to road games and paid $40-50 to sit in the worst seats imaginable. But I'm not talking about those of us on this board, the big Huskie fans. I'm talking about casual fans. It's hard to get them to pay $70 for seats in the endzone or even $100 for the good seats.

There's less than two weeks left for NIU to show they didn't completely blow it on the ticket price/contract for this game.

Would you please explain how both teams could be 3-0 when each of them will have only played two games?

I meant call the ticket office. I agree the $60 price point as the cheap seats is too high. They should have had a $45 price point.
Outside of caving in on location, the 2nd major blunder which is probably the biggest reason this event failed is because of the structure of the contract. Giving Wisconsin the first million was a major mistake, absolutely no motivation to sell the game. If you check their website the past few months, just hardly anything about the game. If they would have said no thanks on that structure, then you say, Have a Nice Day.
This is an OOC game for Wisconsin. You can scream B.S. all you want but Wisconsin views NIU like NIU views Indiana State. What Badger fans fixate on is Big 10 games and the occassional fancy OOC matchup against something like a PAC-10 school.

Get over yourselves. If I were Wisconsin I would not invest a dime either on promoting this game. This is an OOC game against a mid-major and where their payout is already locked. Badger fans will show up for this game WAY more than NIU fans in the end. Which is stinging indictment of NIU football.
Dont we want it to be a majority of NIU fans? So let them "not come." Maybe we'd pull off the upset.
