Congrats Bernard!!

03-woohoo

Actually it was MAC East Offensive Player of the Week. Chandler Harnish was MAC West Offensive Player of the Week, and the MAC does not do an entire conference POW.

Congrats to Pierce and Harnish, and the others that won for defense and special teams. Shameless Toledo plug, kicker Ryan Casano was MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week after making 7 of 7 extra points and 3 of 3 field goals from 23, 33, and 38 yards out.
Roosevelt Nix made his mark vs. 'Bama:

Quote:NIX GETS O.K.

The Flashes survived a scare with Roosevelt Nix, who appeared to injure his foot in Saturday’s loss at Alabama. According to Hazell, the Mid-American Conference’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year will be ready to go on Saturday when the Flashes open their home season against Louisiana-Lafayette.

Nix stunned Hazell with his play at Alabama. The coach knew his sophomore defensive tackle was good, but just how good was a bit of a surprise.

“He is a phenomenal player, and I’m glad we don’t have to play against him,” said Hazell. “He is as disruptive a guy as I’ve seen since Dwight Freeney when we were preparing to play Syracuse and I was at West Virginia. He is always playing on (the other) side of the line of scrimmage. (Alabama) was trying to double-team him, but they can’t. He is too fast off the ball. When we cut the front, they had no chance of blocking him.

“He is ridiculous as a player,” Hazell said. “I didn’t realize how good he is. I watched him practice, but to throw on that film and watch what he did to those guys who probably are some of the best players in the country, he was unbelievable.”

Record-Courier: KSU Weekly presser
Pierce is a beast. If he stays healthy, he's going to pile up an awful lot of yards this year.
BG's punter deserved an award for an 81 yard punt and a 55.8 yard average on 6 punts. He also pinned Idaho inside the 5 on two occasions with one leading to a safety. His punting was a big reason that BG was able to have their way with Idaho.

Instead the MAC gave the award to the Ohio punt returner Travis Carrie. Carrie returned 1 punt for 6 yards and 1 for a 65 yard touchdown when the game was already well out of reach at 37-10.
EMU had two players who deserved consideration:

Cudworth had 13 tackles including some 'form' tackles.

Waits had 5 tackles on special teams.

EMU has some players who can play.
