A few quotes from Larry Scott that gives a little more insight to what's going on behind closed doors:

Does not sound like the LHN is just going to be able to slip into the PAC. Following the models means ESPN will have to give up the rights they bought and tear up the contract, thereby killing the network.

That sounds like it's reading a lot into his statement, but it's not far-fetched that Scott put a renegotiation clause into his contract earlier this year.

Would sure be interesting to know who's already made their pitch and who's planning to be in Dallas over this long weekend to make theirs.
No big deal if it all falls apart. The PAC not going to make a deal just to get one done.

Quote:“We have a structure and contracts with partners for a network model that includes a national network and a regional network under the Pac-12 umbrella,” Scott said. “So we actually couldn’t do anything outside of that. We’re wedded to that model.”

Quote:Scott said the Pac-12 can renegotiate its blockbuster media rights deal if the conference expands.
“At the end of the day, everyone is competing like hell on and off the field,” Scott said. “And with (television) media (rights) dollars.”

Quote:"Any suggestion whatsoever that our conference is being predatory, that's just wrong," Scott said. "We have not had expansion as an initiative, as an agenda for us at all. So to the extent, if there were any conversations going on, you can be sure they're not ones we initiated."
Scott added that he had to listen to pitches from interested schools to evaluate what might be in the best interest of the Pac-12 members.

Quote:"I'm just saying, this year is very different," Scott said. "All I know is we've been thrilled with 12 (members) and it's worked out great for us, and we haven't been planning for anything different."
