I'll try not to include Damaris Johnson in this analysis because his status and team value is unquestioned. From what I gather, his backups may be WR Thomas Roberson, Freeman Kelley or possibly true freshman Gary Owens who is dazzling the coaches in preseason camp.
The Xpt and FG kicker is Kevin Fitzpatrick who is "at least" one of the best in CUSA and probably has a shot at the NFL/CFL next year. Very consistant. Hopefully Kevin has strengthened his leg and will add about 5 yards to those KO's. My guess is that his backup would be our new punter Cole Way (a greyshirt freshman) who may be an alternative in the KO derby as well. From everyone that has seen Cole's punts/kicks, he has a Howitzer of a leg and both punted AND kicked in HS. He was a bit inconsistent in the spring, however. (Cole is the brother of OU punter and team captain Tress Way.) The Xpt/FG holder will be steady senior and starting TE Clay Sears after the graduation of Punting-wizard Mike Such. Bo Abbot has been the starting snapper for 3 years now and obviously won't miss a beat. To my knowledge, he's never had a muff, wiff, wobble or poorly timed snap.
Kick Return - Damaris Johnson (5-8 180)
Thomas Roberson (6-3 200)
Punt Return - Damaris Johnson (5-8 180)
Freeman Kelley (5-11 185)
Holder - Clay Sears (6-4 245)
Kicker - Kevin Fitzpatrick (6-2 195)
Cole Way (6-8 210)
Punter -Cole Way (6-8 210)
Snapper - Bo Abott (5-10 190)
