geez, that political writer quoted in that article must be a clown.

Hey, Perry, if you win the republican nod you get the south.

Get A&M to the Big East if you really want to change some minds lol.
right....
LOL..Rick Perry hasn't done squat for A&M.
Hell, I think we have a spot open for you in the MAC if you are that desperate to leave. 03-wink
I don't think for a second that Perry's orchestrated any of this. Not. One. Second. That being said however, him NOT stopping this could be SOMEWHAT advantageous politically. I don't think it'll win him the south, but it sure does get him some notoriety down there over this and assists in his late entry into the field of contenders.
With Bachmannia running wild, Perry is going to need all the help he can get. Perry is one sneaky dude.

This and the fact that Perry is VERY dependent on a whole bunch of funding from UT and Baylor alums. You're not winning the Republican nomination if you p*ss off half of your own home state, which also happens to be the largest source of political money for the GOP overall. So, he can't be perceived as the one heading an A&M move at all. His tact is what he ought to be doing politically - "It's the A&M's president's decision."
