Are the Middies really that good?
I can't believe Middletown is getting the hype they've gotten. They have talent yes, but I just dont see them being as dominate as people think this year. People are crazy to ignore the coaching change as well. That always takes time to adjust to especially when a new system is brought in. I will be surprised if they come out of the Region this year. IMO they should be rated 4th or 5th in the city pre-season behind Colerain, Elder and St X for sure and probably Moeller too.

As always the coaches in the city tend to know a lot more than these national clowns that get star struck by a few athletes.

I think it is an absolute tossup this year in Region 4 between Elder, Colerain and St X. And then there is another huge dropoff after the Top 5 schools. The question is can teams like Elder and St X even get into the playoffs with their brutal schedules?? And they are brutal.

I have to agree with you about the schedules. Hats off to Colerain which has really tried to schedule up as much as they can but the GMC is the bulk of their schedule. I do think Colerain has the best athletes and team speed. You always know you'll get a tough well coached team in Elder that will line up and smash you in the mouth. I think X consistently has great defense and Coach Specht is obviously very good.

My skepticism for X stems from this class (2012) experiences as freshman (last in the GCL), only better than LaSalle their reserves years and now as a varsity team I dont see them winning the league. I think they'll do like last year and qualify for the playoffs.

Looking forward to alot of good football games!
Trinity (an opponent for both X and Elder) rated #9 in the nation by Rivals. http://highschool.rivals.com/viewrankhs.asp?ra_key=819

Middletown is the 1st Ohio team (listed at #14), followed by Colerain at #15 (Which would make the GMC stronger than the GCL)

St X comes in at #20, Moeller at #43

St Ed's at #24

Interesting rankings. St. Ed's coming in at 24 (plays Elder, St. X and Moeller). Does anyone really think Middletown would beat St. Ed's in a head to head? They've got half a dozen high level BCS players on that team and play a ridiculous schedule. Their game against Don Bosco should be epic.

Warren Central at #3 which shouldn't surprise anyone here. It's going to be hard for anyone to score on them this year.
St Ed's is the odds on favorite to win the state title again IMO.
I can't believe there are 3 Ohio teams rated ahead of them in the Rivals poll. Whoever put that together is clueless in my opinion.
