From the above link, someone might need to tell Big East Commish that most Conf Championship Games take place on first Saturday in December and not near New Year's Day:

Nonetheless, Marinatto can't help but dream of expanding by three schools and creating a possible football championship game in New York.

"It would phenomenal, if we could ever replicate what we have done in basketball on the football side in December around New Year's Day," he said.

Also, one AD in particular does not like neutral site Championship Game location.

Doesn't Marinatto realize that a championship game is considered a regular season game and has to be played in early December at the latest?

Cheers,
Neil
Between the New Year's Day reference and the NY Post article claiming that you only need 10 schools to stage a championship game, I think we need to have everyone at that clambake take a remedial course in basic NCAA rules (or at least have them check out Wikipedia).
They are Basketball people God Bless them but it has finally dawn on them that Football drives the bus in all of athletic in the United States.

If we went to 12 I would rather have it at home sites but if you are going to have it @ a neutral site then it has to be in New York City and in the beginning @ Yankee Stadium. When it grows then move it to the Meadowlands.

Also, it would not hurt the league to move it headquarters from Providence to NYC as well.
Marinatto also evidently thinks TCU is in Dallas.

Well, if we toss the Friars, we better get out of dodge, so to speak. 04-bolt

I think this basketball "commish" has no clue when other conf held their Championship Games and/or if the Big East wanted to have one...when the Big East would have to hold it.

If he has no clue when these games are played...how in the world can he help negotiate the best deal for this game?

This Basketball Commish is using training wheels trying to learn how to be a BCS Football Commish too.

Sadly, these high paying positions should not be "job-in-training" type posts.
Well, luckily we have AD's like Tom Jurich & Oliver Luck to help guide him.
Marinatto is trying- give the guya break- He'll catch on eventually.

At least he didn't say BE football will lead the nation in home runs.

But he did also say this about TCU (don't look TCU fans/alumni):

What's wrong with the Big East having a school in Dallas, Texas?

(Hey Commish, many TCU Fans/alumni get offended when you say that their school/campus is located in Dallas, TX. It's not...its located in Ft Worth, TX...and most of them prefer it that way!"
Marinatto is just a mouthpiece for the football schools. The aggressiveness being shown is unbelievable, I love it. I get the feeling that the Big East Network could be coming along well. The Big East is confident and aggressive. It's probably angering/rattling non-Big East fans and they'll look for something to knock us but I love it.
Marinatto has finally realized that football interests will drive the conference agenda, if the conference is to survive. The football schools are flexing a little muscle, and it's about time...

That's true - if it's to survive as a football conference. But many of us remember when the Big East thrived with basketball alone. 07-coffee3

Besides, what do the football schools want that they (we) don't already get?
4 fewer basketball teams, perhaps?

Marinatto comes across as a dumb-ass, when he talks about college football. Your two examples support the premise. I wonder if Marinatto ever played on a football team. I bet he is the one, who wants to add Nova, Army and Navy! He may be talking his self out of a job. 05-stirthepot
Marinatto just likes to play the buffoon, so his enemies trip themselves up underestimating him. He's like Columbo!

(I reserve the right to be 100% joking about this when the conference falls apart.)

Seriously as a brand Army & Navy do have a higher profile/name then say a Central Florida, Memphis or East Carolina.

Army and Navy would bring more TV $$$ then the usual C-USA retreads.

The Big East is the Forest Gump of college football. It is amazing with clowns like this running the show that we are allowed a seat at the table frankly. When you see comments from a commish like that at a conference where he is supposedly the leader of a multi million dollar, national franchise you wonder, "how in the name of Jeebus did this man end up with this job, when I or literally thousands of other people like me know more about his job and are more competent than he is?". And yet there he is at the podium running a BCS league not knowing the very basics of BCS football.

Army and Navy may have large fanbases, but the usual CUSA retreads would be better able to compete in the long run. Let's not talk about the academies...

Not disagreeing with you...would rather go after schools in other BCS leagues.
