Too bad the game is in 2011 instead of 2012 when the roster will be far stronger.

If memory serves the last time the EMU Men's team played at Syracuse was circa 1996. It was a holiday (Christmas) tournament hosted by Syracuse.

EMU won it! It was the first time Syracuse failed to win their own tourney. 03-nutkick

Good times.
IT WAS BARNES'S 1ST YEAR AT EMU AND THE BACKCOURT OF DIALS AND BOYKINS WON IT FOR GOOD OL EMU. LETS ONLY HOPE THAT MURPHY HAS US READY TO PLAY IN THIS ONE.

PERHAPS A RETURN TRIP TO THE CONVO SOMEWHERE DOWN THE LINE.
It was '98 and EMU Steve was in the stands as EMU upset 'Cuse to win the tourney.

I remember Dials being very excited as was his nature.

I also remember there was no snow on the ground in Syracuse which I thought odd for early December.
EMU defeated Syracuse on 12/14/96 by a score of 68-65. EMU did not play Syracuse in either the '97-98 or '98-99 seasons. Source: EMU Basketball media guide.
Yeah... You can count the wins EMU had in 98-99 on one hand. That was the year after Dial and Boykins left and Craig Erqhart was the leading scorer.

"...At Murphy's farewell news conference in April, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said he would schedule a game with Eastern Michigan this season.

"I know he's going to do a great job, " Boeheim said. "We'll probably have to play him a game this year before he gets loaded up with too many players out there. Then we're not going to play him anymore."...

I think I'm remembering more.

I was there for the Carrier Classic.

Then the team went out to Hawaii around Christmas time and things happened and Barnes fired Brian Miller.

After that a lot of problems surfaced and Barnes' stock declined in the eyes of many.
Barnes was a cancer. Miller was a good guy and I believe he is presently the AD at U-D Jesuit HS which incidently has 2 DIV I Players (class of 2012) currently on their roster (Jenkins 6'7 and a PG 6'1)

Brian left UoD Jesuit h.s. years ago and went to St. Johns in Toledo and left there within the last year.
THANKS AND IRREGARDLESS, MILLER WAS/ IS A GOOD GUY

BARNES WAS ONCE REFERRED TO BY A FELLOW COLLEGE COACH AS A "CRIMINAL"

WONDER WHAT HE'S DOING NOW?

HOW ABOUT MCDOWELL AND THOMAS - ARE THEY EMPLYED?

RAMSEY IS DRAWING A SALARY WHILE MCDOWELL AND MOORE i DON'T BELIEVE ARE UNLESS EMPLOYED.
