Assume TAMU, Ut and OU are gone. Who does the Big 12 invite?

Remaining Big 12 members

Baylor
TT
OSU
KSU
KU
Mizzou
ISU

New members
TCU or SMU
Houston
AFA
Boise State
Memphis?

1- Tech and OSU will be taken care of, so you are down to the Orphan 5.
2- The Big 12 (assuming it grows from there) would at least temporarily keep their BCS bid.
3- This could be an almost ideal setup for both the BE and Big 12.

Orphan 5 invites the entire football playing Big East. This allows the BE to split, immediately be BCS, and immediately have a hoops autobid.

West:
Baylor
TCU
KU
KSU
ISU
MU
UL

East:
Cincy
USF
Connecticut
Syracuse
Pitt
WVU
Rutgers

If any make sense, add CUSA or MWC teams to get to 16 or to replace members who got picked up by bigger leagues. Allows for a split and all involved to keep BCS AQ.
"Assume TAMU, Ut and OU are gone. Who does the Big 12 invite?" Too much Fairy Dust there, can't make that assumption.

B12-2 need only pick up Louisville/Air Force/New Mexico/TCU/Nevada/BYU/Boise - two team combinations thereof, IF Texas wants a playoff.

I pray that does not happen, because it would leave Houston out in the cold yet again.

But I could actually see that happening. More likely than the Big East splitting on their own anyway unless they get assurances that they will keep their AQ status.

I still think OU stays in the Big 12-2 because of the ball and chain (from their perspective) in OSU. Unless the SEC goes to 16 and brings them both I don't see OU in the SEC.

That would nix the deal above due to lack of space, but open up slots for more schools like BYU, Air Force, Boise, Houston, SMU, Louisville, etc.

I see the reformed Big 12 as such:

North
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Missouri

South
Texas Tech
Baylor
Houston
TCU/SMU
BYU
Louisville

This would be the Sooners conference to run and potentially dominate. In essence the old Big 8 (6) versus the newbies....

Actually I think UH would stand a great shot. Remember that the ACC and SEC would likely make moves and the B10 also was prepared to react to the Pac16 (which is what would have to happen to whittle the B12 to 5) So there are likely fewer members from the old BE joining this thing and therefore a couple more spots. BU & TCU help give the league north texas exposure and UH would be a pretty logical complement.

I think if UT & ATM are gone OU will have too many good offers to pass up.

A very nice conference. Memphis is a natural fit and brings much to the table: Brand name, great basketball, the Liberty Bowl, Fed Ex sponsorship of conference championship games, fits the footprint, fairly large TV market, and is a sleeping giant in football which will flourish with BCS prestige and additional money.

Tiger football has been down the last several years, but a new commitment has been made. Some reasons for optimism as we look toward the future are:

1) Tiger Lane tailgate area to impress visiting recruits (finished)
2) New $$8 million 100 yd indoor practice field (funds being raised)
3) Beautiful turf practice field (finished)
4) Recruiting room (finished)
5) $3 million weight room (finished)
6) Six Tiger football players that received Phil Steele Pre-season all CUSA honors including Dontae Poe among others.
7) Two recruiting classes that have been an improvement over past years, Blue Ribbon Preview referenced on ESPN.com states this, "Memphis brought home one of the better recruiting hauls among Conference USA teams."
8) The fact that we played a ton of freshman and sophomores last year, (they gained valuable experience).
9) A perusal of the roster will show that we have gotten bigger and faster at a number of positions.

Agreed but only if they can beak free of OSU.

only TCU, Boise, and BYU have had any consistant success

New Mexico? adds nothing; Nevada? adds a little

Air Force-little

Louisville-maybe but doubtful

without A&M, Texas, and Oklahoma, the Big 12ish is nothing but a higher profile MWC

This almost happened last year. If The Big 12 ever falls apart, THIS is what will happen. That is why The Big East has been reluctant to add anyone.

Nobody. If Texas, A&M, and Oklahoma leave the Big XII, it will cease to exist...
Yeah, i doubt the league survives losing its powers. Yet, at that point, anything is possible, could see a new espn league happen.
If the 3 of the Big XII north teams get a BEast invite, which is not outside the realm of probability, it will be a better situation than the Big XII without those 3 powers. That would reduce the inventory even farther (4 schools left, which isn't enough to remain a conference according to the BCS guidelines), leaving the remaining teams scrambling. I figure the remaining schools will end up in either CUSA or the MWC...

None of this will happen, so it's just fantasy, but while we're playing fantasy realignment here... If, after some magic sprinkling of fairy dust, Texas politicians allowed A&M to leave the B12 all by itself, then that same fairy dust would allow UT to become an indy, and Texas Tech would not be able to catch a ride on someone else's train.

No offense but that conference is horrible.

LOL. When all your fairy dust settles, where do you have OU and Okla St? OU has already stated they do not want to go to the SEC. So where do OU and OSU land? My bet is the PAC. Do you honestly think they will stop there when they have a chance to pick up the 3rd largest fan supported school in the State of Texas?

I know it's all hypothetical anyways.

In this land sprinkled with fairy dust, if I could choose any Big 12-2 teams without political interference, I'd have Kansas and Missouri higher on my list than Texas Tech.

Still, I doubt that the Pac would actually add any schools in the central time zone unless UT is among them.

Put it this way: Would Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and Colorado agree to give up a division with U$C and UCLA, and the access to southern California recruiting and TV exposure, for a division like this?

Arizona
Arizona State
Utah
Colorado
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Kansas
Missouri or Texas Tech

Those four Pac-12 schools -- and any one of them could block further expansion -- would say no to any expansion that leads to a division like that. It only works for them if UT is in there. And only UT would increase the Pac's media value so much more that expansion to 16 would be worthwhile.
This.

My new Big12 if A&M and UT left;

West Division
BSU
BYU
HOUSTON
Baylor
TT
TCU

East Divsion
KState
KU
Mizzou
ISU
OU
OSU
Any projection that has Memphis being taken ahead of UL or even UC or USF is beyond laughable.

I hope you know I am just having fun but good smart a$$ response to my smart a$$ response.

A friend pointed this out to me and I think I know why Cal fans would want nothing do with Tx Tech after seeing this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Snu4R6ft3...6BD52633BD

Looks like #21 Texas Tech let #4 Cal have it in the 2004 Holiday Bowl.

Anyways, to your question as to whether or not UofA/ASU want to give up Cali recruiting. Who knows. Would they like to have an inroad to Texas which has arguably the best HS talent in the country? Would they rather have some games in the Central TZ? Who knows? Would they trade to trips to Corvallis and Pullman for Norman and Lubbock which have the #12 & #32 top attended games in 2010?

When superconference armageddon happens, the PAC can go after Boise St, Nevada, Hawaii and San Jose St. Those schools will definitely bring money and exposure to the PAC.

Larry Scott is a visionary and I have no doubt he has a better plan in place. Again, I hope you know this is just for fun.
