Well, I know for a fact most federal employees are on a hiring and salary increase freeze. Try living in DC on three years ago salary, or less....

Serves them right.
We'd probably be better off without 50% of the ones in Washington. Maybe 90%. If you really want to make some budget cuts, the deadwood at the top would be a good place to start.

Not a problem.
But Owl 69 is exactly right. Get them off the gov't dole, and out of the region, and costs go down.
A bloated central gov't (federal or state level) is bad for everyone.
