absolute joke. Just because they're good in basketball doesn't mean they should be able to jump better teams just because of their name. They can't even win the MAC East? The BIG East already has what 16 teams? Why do they need more.
So that's how they're getting all those recruits. By lying to them. 05-nono

Since leaving the Big East Temple-
- is 4-37 vs teams with winning records
- is 0-12 vs MAC teams with winning records (0-3 in 2010, out scored 85-43)
- is 0-1 in bowl games
- has never appeared in a MAC conference championship game
- has never won the MAC East out right.
- has poor attendance*

* Temple fans are quick to blame the MAC for their poor attendance numbers and think playing in the BE will magically lift them. The actual numbers, however, don't support it-

- attendance for UCONN at Temple, Sept 2010- 18,702
- attendance for BGSU at Temple, Oct 2010- 23,045

if Temple can't get more than 18k for a regional rivalry game against Big East foe UCONN when Temple is undefeated, coming off their best season in 30 years, is constantly over hyped by the media, and is pushing a Heisman campaign, then when will they? Heck, 24K people showed up in Athens, Ohio in '09 to watch UCONN play a Bobcat team coming off a 4-8 season.

Temple has a better record now because the bottom of the MAC is worse than the bottom of the BE, or any other conference. Golden was a great marketer and salesman but a terrible game day coach, maybe the new guy will get you over the hump. Start showing up to the MACC every year for 5 or 6 years, and THEN you can start wondering aloud if the BE is watching. But until then... learn to walk before you run.

So the staff is as disillusioned as their fanbase...no surprise.
Disillusioned or delusional?

Yeah..forget defeating the BE Champ by two TDs, taking down Navy in Annapolis the week before they took down Notre Dame in South Bend, and leading PSU into the 4th quarter until losing our best player, we blow.

I will agree our attendance does need to improve, even for playing directional schools no one east of Pittsburgh has heard of, but you're conveniently omitting that we lead the MAC in average attendance last year. And the 32,000 that showed up for the Nova game was nothing close to a significant shade of blue. It takes time to make people get over the fact we were the joke of college football for the last century..but we had one of the biggest increases in FBS attendance last year. Guess you can look at it either way.

And yes..we know we need to win a championship...hopefully Daz gets the job done that Golden couldn't.
Haters gon hate.

Attendance while in the Big East was not good. That was one of the reason for being asked to leave. The other was lack of on field success. They will have to continue to improve both for any Big East consideration and that will only come if Villanova is definitely ruled out.
Dang - got my hopes up - and it was only Temple people "think" they should be invited.

Nothing new - keep walking, nothing to see here.

How about beating a MAC team with a winning record? 0-12, that does
blow. Didn't a 4-8 Rutgers team beat UConn also? Notre Dame went 6-6 and their HC got canned.

Rutgers' attendance sucked too.
I could be wrong, but personally I don't think they have much of a shot at going to the Big East. They've probably got a better shot than anyone else in the MAC, but it's still very, very low. If they don't go back to the Big East, what are these recruits gonna do in a couple of years when they realize they were lied to? And what's gonna happen when they tell their former high school coaches and those coaches start pursuading their current players to look at other schools instead of Temple? Mighty risky plan by the Temple coaches, unless Adazzio thinks his stint at Temple will be pretty short and he will get a chance to move up before any of this starts to hurt his program.

That's why they expanded the stadium to 54 k and put 49-54k in the stadium now. Big difference when you have an administration that cares and alumni and students that show up for games. Temple failed miserably in the BE on the field, in the stands, with poor facilities, and with an administration that simply did not care. Temple is doing better now but really has found their rightful home in the MAC. Temple will have a great set up now with UMass joining the conference and the combo of UMass and Temple give the MAC great exposure on the East Coast now. Your attendance still only averages 20k tops but there are chances to beef it up in years when Navy, Nova, Penn St, ND, and Rutgers are on the home schedule.

I find it very difficult to believe that Daz and his staff are telling this to kids... Maybe something like: We are lobbying to get in, aspiring to get in, hope in a few years if we do well maybe we will get in...

Flat out saying we will be in 2012 just doesn't make sense

Owls Head, I think you're spot on. Wouldn't make sense to tell kids that without knowing it's a lead-pipe lock.

Temple was in the crapper a few years ago in all facets. In a short time, they've rebuilt the entire program and are on the verge of breaking out. As pointed out by others, they have note quite arrived as an Non-AQ force, but they've done a good job of putting most of the pieces in place.

Does that equal a Big Lease invite next year? Probably not. But they are certainly moving in the right direction.

I was thinking the same thing.. Even if you *know for a fact* that the wheels are turning and you have a 95% chance, making it public could adversely affect the deal.

They are probably telling the players that half of the out of conference schedule will be with the BE when Villanova is admitted to the BE. Temple will have a home and away BE game each year rotating BE members Rutgers, Villanova, Uconn, and Syracuse through the schedule in two year contracts. Adding in Penn St's 2 for 1's and conference games with UMass and Buffalo will give Temple a regional "big" East Coast schedule. 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot :uberbow: 07-coffee3 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao
