Because Akron has such a good history hiring former ND coaches.

(Of course, all Akron baseball fans know that the the straw the stirred the drink at KSU during Rembielak's tenure and continuing today is pitching coach Mike Birkbeck, an Akron guy)

Former Miami player and Kent and LSU coach. When I read the list I thought Rembielak was an obvious choice. I guess the committee agreed.

Rick’s a good coach. The only rap on him at Kent was his ego, but most coaches have big ego’s.
