Translation: Although many of these coaches are new, salary figures don't necessarily equate to wins/titles/bowls.
Believe this is his 3 year of a 5 year contract at $200,000. Of course this was for a FCS HC and some are very vocal questioning his ability to coach at the FCS level. Morris did not do well as a Div III coach and did not impress me too much as the offensive coordinator, and both season seemed to peak after the first month of play. Questioning his ability to adjust successfully.
And the Kent State coach (Hazell) is still the lowest paid in the MAC. I believe his predecessor (Doug Martin) made $190,000.
I think Kent is right about where it should be for a first year head coach. In my eyes anything over 350k for a first year coach is dumb. You can always bump someones pay up but you cant bump it down.
