Quote:A gay softball association in the US can limit the number of heterosexual players on its teams, a federal judge ruled Thursday.

The decision to allow the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Association (NAGAAA) to enforce a rule of two "straight" players came in a lawsuit filed by three bisexual men who claim they were kicked out of the Gay Softball World Series because they "weren't gay enough," the Courthouse News Service reported.

Frankly, I have no concern about the NAGAAA. I have no objection to their existence, and have no general concern about their existence. But, to all the libertarians on here who insist that societal mores can (and should) be discarded and that will improve the fiscal health of the country by reducing the burdens of the state, I say 03-nutkick
Wow!
What a huge waste of time, energy and money.

This does seem like a ridiculous use of court time and energy.

However, while correlating societal mores with spiritual values is certainly your prerogative, trying to connect libertarians and amoralism on this board is really just an extreme straw man. You've seen the arguments supporting social contract theory here. You don't have to agree with them but I think you do have to acknowledge that anyone making that argument IS arguing the presence and importance of societal mores.
The NAGAAA wants to follow gays into the bedrooms to keep their ranks pure, and the judge went along with it. How much D1ck do you have to suck or a$$ you have to pound (or get pounded) before you are man gay enough to play in the pure gay league.

I'll volunteer for the lesbian certifier inspector.

Strange how the left has turned the nation from a melting pot to a gaggle of f'n special interest groups with not a damn thing in common. We might as well break up into city-states.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I don't remember them. I remember SCT usually coming from me. I am pretty sure we've had more than one thread where the libertarians were explicit that the gov't should away from issues that are strictly "morals," with many regulars claiming to be "fiscal conservatives" and "social liberals".

Whereas, I've been consistent saying you don't get fiscal austerity w/ social liberalism.

If I remember that wrongly, then accept my apologies. But, I'm pretty sure that's right.
I was primarily thinking of GTS when making my SCT claim (here's a link to an example). But I guess it's possible I'm also making my own argument and trying to attribute it to a phantom army of posters that will back me up. 03-wink
This is just like that all-white basketball league that was supposed to start a couple of years ago. They said they didn't want black players because we don't play the game correctly.

The same goes for this softball league.
They might as well rename the WNBA to the LNBA.

This has more to do with the liberal mindset than anything else. Note, this is not the LIBERTARIAN mind set I endorse. Liberals claim to be for social tolerance, but when they to really be for, at least on the far left, is for exclusion of everybody not like themselves. It is ironic than conservatives are far more socially tolerant of working with other people in every day activities than liberals. Back when he was with ABC, John Stossel wrote a NYT best seller and couldn't get on NPR once. But he got on Fox multiple times. Conservatives just go astray when they try to use the force of government to impose their viewpoint on others.
Didn't Rand Paul get raked over the coals for making the same kind of argument?
