SOunds like a young man that is putting a lot of thought and effort in career planning. Good luck to him, I wish him the best.
sounds like a narcissist to me, chuck. How in the world does this guy think he has the experience to head a D1 program? What has he actually accomplished to lead him to believe that he deserves ("I was frustrated to not a get chance to interview at Bradley") to be a head coach. He was a basketball ops guy for guillespie who got fired from Kentucky for losing too much for the blue bloods in lexington. How,after merely 3 years as an assistant for a mediocre Illini team, does he have the gonads to believe he is entitled to a D1 head job. His not being articulate and experienced enough to outline precisely what to do the first 90 days of the program did him in as it well should have. just because he thinks he can recruit (we shall see how those recruits actually pan out insofar as wins) doesn't mean he is anywhere near ready to head up a D1 program...3 years into it, he is still wet behind the ears and I worry when a guy with so little experience seems to think he is entitled to a head job. What has he actuallly accomplished? The illini have lost 39 games in 3 years and are 30-24 in the Big Ten during his tenure. Again, what leads anyone to think this guy can coach?

He is doing what he needs to, to assess his strengths and weaknesses and to figure out what he needs to do to achieve his dreams. I say good for him. It is OK to be impatient and it is OK to be humbled a bit along the way as long as you are open to learning from your experiences.

03-lmfao I was just commenting about the picture as I remember someone here had it on their signature. I didn't even read the article for fear of coming down with an illness!

He didn't say he was entitled to anything, he simply said he would have liked the opportunity to be interviewed by Bradley and share his ideas with them. Nowhere in that entire article does he claim he should have been hired. There is a difference between asking for an opportunity to be considered and believing you should have been hired.

I have met Jerrance on a couple of ocassions and, at least in my dealings with him, he's anything but a narcissist. Do I think he's ready to be a head coach? No, absolutly not, but if I were in his shoes I'd like an opportunity to go through the process and learn, as well.

lord forbid that this guy has some ambition. sounds like cagy cager is jealous.
ambition is fine but pay your dues....how many years did it take Monty, with all of his and MSU's accomplishments, to get a head gig? There are hundreds of assistants with credentials as good or better than this guy's....Weber better watch his back, he may be gunning for the head job there....Since he can't figure it out, why do you suppose Bradley didn't even interview him?

Again, he didn't say anywhere that he didn't understand why he wasn't interviewed by Bradley, he said he wish he was given that opportunity and that he was frustrated he wasn't. Being frustrated is entirely different from not understanding why something it happening. He says point blank in the interview that he is young, doesn't have a lot of experience, and found the feedback he did get valuable. That doesn't seem like a guy who thinks he's entitled to anything.

He's wants to be a head coach, and he was born and raised in Peoria. I'm sure he would have loved the opportunity to go through the interview process with Bradley and I don't think it's unreasonable for him to be frustrated that he couldn't.

Yeah, I think most of them missed that. They just thought you were turning this into the MAC board where when everytime an Ohio State coach sneezes they post a thread and in our case the Illness.

+1. What's wrong with him wanting to be a HC as soon as possible? What future head coach would say "Well it typically takes 10+ years to get a head coaching job so I'm pretty much stuck as an assistant until then". He clearly wants to do a great job as an assistant, learn along the way, and develop that into a HC position. How dare he strive for something bigger.
striving is great.....publically complaining is where I have a problem....how often have you ever heard of a 3rd year asst in a mediocre program whining about being disappointed cuz he didn't get an interview. You think Monty cried about being passed over many times with superior credentials? Greg Gard of wisky? I just didn't like the tone but if you'all think it is acceptable to talk about what you didn't get (for good reason) then, fine....I just kinda prefer nose to the grindstone, pay your dues, work hard, and let others tout your assets.
