We already have Logan and Neal Barlow. Now some are suggesting that Wilmath is a walk-on as well. Obviously, there is a limit. 13 scholarships. Not sure if the limit is of 15 or 17 total players on your roster. I'm thinking it's 17 so it may make sense.

Not sure why Wilmath would announce anything, if he is simply a walk-on. Doesn't mean anything at this point anyway. I guess he could be pretty convinced that no DI offers are coming, and he doesn't want to go the DII or Juco route.

I'm thinking that it may be 17 total for a squad with walk-ons. But really, I'm not sure there really is a limit, at least at home. On the road, I'm pretty sure a team can't have more than a certain number of players on the bench (maybe 15), so that may limit walk-ons to some extent. If anybody knows the actual facts on the rule, I'd be interested to know. I do know that at the Ivies and Military Academies where they don't have per se athletic scholarships, all bets are off.
I have googled every site I can think of and can't find the simple answer. I'm pretty certain the limit is 15. I guess it could be all 15 walk ons, or thirteen and two. I'll try and keep looking. We could probably look at some rosters of D1 teams, including our own, and we could probably figure it out.
I checked our rosters as far back as I could. Most we ever had was 15. Checked ASU and Arkansas. Neither had as many as 15, but we know you can have 15, since we did once, so it tells me that 15 is probably the limit. If you want to see something clever, check the ASU and Arkansas rosters. When you move the mouse onto the players name his picture comes up beside it. Very neat.

For some reason the number 17 pops into my head. Probably can't bring those on the road, but maybe you can have that many on your team. However, I'm obviously not sure.
I've not seen any roster with more than 15, but I'll keep checking. What programs would likely have the most walk ons? Those are the programs I'd lik to check. Probably state schools, since walking on at a private school would be prohibitive for most kids.

I beieve you're right. Drake has had 16 in several seasons and 17 in one that I could find. So I'm inclined to think 17 is the number. Which means we should be adding some walk ons. Why not? More walk ons, the better chance of finding a gem. So if Logan Quinn, Neal Barlow and Wilmeth all show up, and we have 13 scholarship players, we'll have the largest roster I can recall. Heck. Let's find another good walk on. I've always said there are kids out there who can help us. Matt Mouzy finally proved that. I'd love to have four walk ons every year. Especially in state kids. Creates more interest in the program.04-cheers
I have 4 years of eligibility left...maybe I should try out!
Go for it! I would, except at this point I think I would be classified as a limp-on.
Is there such a thing as a "crawl on"?
