Wouldn't 15,000 along each sideline and 15,000 in one endzone make for a good 45,000 seat football stadium and over 25,000 seat basketball configuration. It also would leave the other end zone available for 15,000 seats in the future.
Well that's certainly a very legitimate idea, but Collins seems determined to build it such that it's not expandable. I don't know how much cheaper your idea would be than just build a 60,000-seat dome straight-up, but that's certainly an idea I had not considered before. I think part of Collin's hangup has been on the pricetag of the 60,000-seat dome.
I would think the other end zone might be taken by restaurants, shops, skywalk, luxury boxes, etc.

Which could be disposable at a later date if it is so very necessary. At least the option would be there.
Well I like your idea... I just wonder what kind of price tag that would have. It would probably be enough to kill the proposal.

Excellent suggestion, but it makes too much sense... 04-chairshot 04-chairshot

Cutting the cost of a 60,000 seat dome by removing 20,000 seats and replacing those with in-house bars, restaurants, and boxes that will have major private investment and thus cut the cost of the arena as a whole while leaving open the possibility of expansion? Brilliant! 04-drinky

Get those councilmen some Guinness and maybe we'll more forward.

And whats to be done with that private investment when someone decides its time for them to give up their squatting rights???
Maybe they can start hanging fans from the rafters, I'm sure you can get a couple of thousand up there.

Good question. Possible solution: Give them the rights inside the dome for 10-years and when the time is up guarantees on profitable lland outside the arena. Leave open the option for extending their stay if its not getting filled.

The difference between agreement and disagreement is ~$150 million, correct? Surely there is a creative way to fix that.
120 Mill.
Gracias ATLBlaze.

Just out of curiosity, how much would the rights to a whole endzone side of a 60,000-down-to-45,000 capacity stadium for 10 years be worth? Think multi-story high-class restaurant(s) with plexi-glass wall facing the field/arena, luxury boxes high-up. How much would a private investor pay for that?
