About expansion since be broke TCU and just tweeted about nova. Asked him where the big east goes now? 10/17? 10/18? Football only? Etc. Here's what he said

@myboybleu think they'll go to 10 or 12 in football. Not sure how soon though. I think football schools wary of adding Nova

Nothing earth shattering but he seems to think 12 is still in play.
A few months ago he said NOVA or UCF for 10 and stop. Interesting that he now puts 12 on the table.
Yeah that's why I posted it. Brett seems plugged in to expansion and has some good sources. Him throwing 12 out there is interesting to say the least.
Yeah I know he's pretty tight with the BIG EAST offices.
The Big East has been interested in potentially going to 12 since last year.

Talk about hedging your bets. Ten to 12 covers 99.99% of the bell curve, doesn't it?
It covers everything except staying at 9...but that doesn't stop a bunch of people on here from believing that will happen.

No, the reason he said that is because the Big East will either add one more team or three more teams, no in-betweens. There I'd a lot of politics and negotiations going on inside of the conference.
With Nova being rejected, the basketball side might not be too happy when voting on full membership. Football only invites wouldn't surprise me.
We'll see.
Well I'm certainly glad that they're using logic and reason when deciding the best possible candidate to move up instead of petty politics.
I think it's looking like a split may be closer than some people think or it's one more full membership and then possibly #11/#12 as football only?

Houston/UCF?
ECU?
Navy?
At this point, not sure why the BB schools would allow anyone a full membership.

From what I can tell on the VU message boards, seems like the football schools want more concrete evidence of a contract with PPL and a definate timeline for expansion to 30k. If so, that would explain why the answer is not a definate no but I don't know if and when Nova could get that information.

If Villanova came to the table without knowing the answers to those questions then IMO they did very little of their homework.
just b/c McMurphy got Leavitt fired doesn't mean he's the most reliable source
Does anyone really think Nova can get 30k into PPL anyway? Not in a million years.

03-shhhh03-shhhh03-shhhh03-shhhh03-shhhh03-shhhh

Stop making good points 03-wink.

If Nova KNEW they could get 30+k into a stadium, they would be able to build their own stadium and not have to rent a soccer field. I personally feel like if they can't even get 30,000 to a game, they have no place in the BCS.

Its because they don't have the money! If they had the money to expand PPL Park, then why not just upgrade their current on-campus facility. The reason that part of the plan is so sketchy is because they never planned to actually expand PPL Park. Its a substitute until they expand their own stadium.

PPL Park is owned by the MLS team and it has been cited before that the MLS team would need to approve any expansion of that stadium.
UCF? Houston? ECU?

I think ECU's only shot at full membership is if they go to 12. UCF/Houston seem to be frontrunners.

ECU is likely front-runner if football-only invites are going to be made.

If McMurphy did indeed get Leavitt fired he did the Bulls' faithful an enormous favor in the long term. I can tell you that as a fan of another league school USF is MUCH more imposing now with Holtz than they ever were with that psychopath hyperventillating up and down the sidelines as his team took undisciplined penalty after undisciplined penalty.

It appears that they now have a real coach to go along with all of those athletes. That is daunting.
