Feb. 14, 2007

IRVING, Texas - Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced Wednesday that the C-USA Men's Basketball Championship would return to Memphis in 2008, as unanimously approved by the Conference Board of Directors. The University of Memphis will serve as host for the event, which will be played at FedExForum for the fourth-straight year.

"We are very pleased to bring the tournament back to Memphis," Banowsky said. "The support and hospitality from the wonderful people in Memphis have made them an excellent host, and FedExForum is a great venue. The downtown entertainment district is also a big draw for the event."

Why doesn't Newl Orleans put in a bid?

Is there a C-USA team in New Orleans?

j/k

haha.
Tulsa fan on the CUSA board says he's hearing that it's going to be in Tulsa for 2009 and 2010... While I don't believe it would be in Tulsa two years in a row, I think if the tournament is somewhere other than Memphis and Birmingham in 2009 (entirely likely, if the Texas/Tulsa bloc is tired of traveling this way), we aren't going to get it in 2010. At this point, I don't see it being away from Memphis two years in a row, especially if it's somewhere else in 2009 and doesn't do nearly as well.
If the BJCC had not have been booked for 2008, the tourney would be in B-Ham........... See you in 2009 for sure & possibly 2010............
What concert is booked at the BJCC? Until its confirmed and happens I hope we aren't getting the runaround for pie in the sky.
They needed all the extra parking for the boat show.
It could be Bass MAsters again.
