I definitely think we can cover if we can limit Morris Almond which will be a big if. Who, primarily, will be trying to guard Almond tonight?

Damn you Blazer85, I just posted the same thing. You beat me too it. I disagree with you about the line. I think it is way too high. Should be about UAB -3.5.
Well... Rice has gotten down by big margins pretty often this season. Only to come back and win late in the game. It will take a full 40-minute effort from our guys to come out with the win. But Rice is VERY limited in their scoring options. We've got to play aggressively on Almond, but not so much so that it leaves open lanes to the basket for his teammates. No way will we play very much one-on-one tonight IMO... almost strictly will be a zone I would guess. However, someone will have to keep a hand in Almond's face b/c he can definitely shoot from the perimeter as well. Almond will get his points... that much is almost certain. But we can't let him have a 30+ point game as he's had so often in his career.

MuuuuuuKuuuuuuuuBuuuuuuuu 04-rock

(just my opinion)
Hey Blazer faithful...
Rice grad here just trying to get some information on your team.

So, I see the line is at 7.5. Honestly, I think the safe money is on taking the Blazers to cover. We (Rice) play like dog$#@$ on the road and we often get down big in the first 5-6 minutes.

Morris will get his points but if Rice is to win, they will need Lorenzo Williams, the PG, to score about 10-12 points. We will also need some timely scoring from people like Cory Pfleiger (3 pt shooter) Rodney Foster (more of a defensive specialist, but can shoot) and inside from Paulius Packevicius.

My prediction, UAB 65-Rice 55
Rice is my second favorite C-USA team and tastes good with Gumbo as well................. ;-)
ATALLBLaze, I know you support Rice as evidenced by your numerous posts on the Parliament. Its too bad there is no streaming video of tonights game as I would have liked to have watched the game. Clearly, I have no life....
I am actuall from Southeast Texas and have family in Deer Park, La Porte, Cleveland, Livingston, Sour Lake, Woodville, and Lumberton.
Rice only has two road wins all year, @East Carolina and @SMU. Everybody beats ECU, and the SMU game was won by only 3 points.

Don't get me wrong, Almond still scares the crap out of me. We will have to play well to win. I hope we play as well or better than we did on the UTEP game. This game is crucial. I don't want to dip below .500 again.

Ok, Blazers - it's on.

Heading on out for the long drive to the game (and the long unhappy drive back, most likely). It's Valentine's day, so be sure to give your Rice visitors a big hug. And try not to fumble any game-clinching interceptions this time.
