Careful, we were destroyed by them a couple of years ago.

They lost to someone who has a much bigger basketball tradition than they do.

04-cheers
Sweet!
I'm thinking the "who?" comment was meant for Alabama, not Wichita State.

If losing by 9 at Wichita St means we were destroyed, then Clemson _________ed us this year in the NCAA tourney.
I didn't look it up. I remembered it being worse.
There was a short piece in the Birmingham News a couple of days ago stating the UAT-Colorado game should be for the NIT Championship. That the other two teams were not as worthy as UAT and Colorado.

Justice was served again tonight in the Big Apple.

Gonna call foul on that one. Wichita State has 8 NCAA appearances (3 Sweet 16's 1 Elite 8 and 1 Final Four) and 12 NIT appearances.

Alabama has 19 NCAA appearances (8 Sweet 16's and 1 Elite Eight) and 11 NIT appearances. And (according to Wikipedia, I know, I know) Alabama has the 2nd most SEC championships and 2nd best SEC record against other SEC teams (behind Kentucky of course).

Dog them, but be fair.

Plus my boss decided to go to NY for the tournament even though he's not that big an Alabama basketball fan. I think his wife just wanted a shopping trip--so I've had a quiet week.
In 33 seasons, we have 14 NCAA appearances and 11 NIT appearances. If that's not an FN pedigree I don't know what is.

Tradition entails more than just NCAA appearances and NIT appearances. Wichita State has the only player who ever led the NCAA in both scoring and rebounding.

Alabama has no basketball tradition. All their "tradition" is in football. Wichita State has always had more basketball tradition than Bama. Their fans care about basketball.

That is true to the Nth degree. I have many friends that are Wichita State grads (I did grow up in CO) and they are all about the hoops. Can't say the same for gumpU folks...
I love it. Now all we need to achieve near perfection would be for Butler or VCU to win the Big Dance.

I would say that Wichita State has no football tradition to get in the way of their basketball, so they hang their hopes on basketball.

Even though Bama can walk under a snakes belly without stooping (according to most on here) they have had (and do again have) a pretty decent basketball program. Blazeramo put the cold facts out and Bama is putting a team on the court to prove that. Amazing what a good coach can do.

And there are those who care more about basketball than football.
I'm eating wheat bread with my lunch today in tribute to Wichita State, thank you, "Wheatshockers!!!" For kicking that @$$ up and down MSG!!!

I played the wrong damn office bracket, wish that someone would do an NIT bracket in the near future, those were some tremendous basketball games played in it...Best team won it this year, IMO, without question..Congratualations, Wichita State..Would love to see the Blazers cross swords with them in basketball in the very near future, home and home, there and at Bartow. We'll do what the "Updykes" could not!!!05-stirthepot

I have been on 03-cloud9 ever since I read the final score, did not see the game, attended a little league baseball game that evening, but, as Ralph Cramden used to say, "HOW SWEET IT IS!!!" 02-13-banana

I am so glad we have you on here to spin everything favorable to Bama. Don't know how we would manage without you constantly taking up for the Tide. I think its great that you don't try to hide your support like some do here. We never have to guess about your loyalties. It will always be obvious which team you prefer. The only thing we have to wonder about is why you are here in the first place.
