The Tennessean's Ms. Cheap has outed my wife's favorite place to shop when we're down there for football games. It's a mandatory stop during my football weekends before we head over to Tiger Lane. Although, sometimes she just drops me off at Tiger Lane and says "I'll be back before kickoff."

Luckily many in Nashville think Memphis is a war zone not worth traveling to if you value your life. Your secret is safe ladies.
Those "outlets" were very good at one time, when they felt like a true outlet. You can still get things for much cheaper there, but now it just seems like a discount store. Only goes to show you the huge markup that they charge on their items to begin with.

When it first opened, it was a little more cramped, less organized, had true returns, which were often customized and worthless to most, but still a great deal. They also carried damaged and distressed and thus deeply discounted items.

I remember some people would go in there and litereally wait by the back door as they brought stuff in to lay claim on it. They would leave with baskets full of heavily discounted items only to go home to sell it on eBay!
We bought an area rug for the new baby's room at PBO and saved a ton.
our dining room table came from the pottery barn outlet. it cost about $1000 less than if we had ordered it.

Yeah; it's hilarious the underlying hatred for all things Memphis from so many Nashvillians. Not all but quite a few.

I ran a Memphis Branch Office for a Corporation HQ'd in Nashville for 15 years. One of the guys there used to try to insult me by remarks like "Memphis is the largest city in Mississippi you know". My retort would always be "yeah; and Tennesse too. So What?". LOL

Then there were always the inevitable latent racism remarks attributed to Memphis. But he'd always come down with the wife and visit Memphis for all the Art Exhibits at Brooks, The Dixon, or a Wonders Series show that Nashville never could compete with.

He was a big UTK fan that hated Memphis but always loved for UTK to recruit our HS Athletes. He was always colorblind then.

I was behind a guy from the Nashville area at the Spottswood Super-Lo a couple weeks ago buying a couple hundred dollars of meat he "can't get in Nashville at that quality and price."

Good grief what kind of meat was that? I like the spottswood superlo and they have a decent meat dept, but I would hardly consider it really high PREMIUM quality or anything.
