The latest info on where Villanova stands on their upcoming decision to join BE football.

We talk to Eric Watkins of VUSports.com about where Villanova stands just two weeks away from their decision to join the Big East for football. April 12 is when the decision will be made and you might be surprised on how confident he is in that getting done. We also talk about the possibility of a 12 team Big East and where those schools would come from!
Good interview. Really seems to be a toss-up. I hope for the good of classic BE rivals that the Wilcats move up!
50/50 huh? It isn't too often that a D-IAA football program moves up to a BCS conference. I don't think it is wise for the long-term, but I am excited to watch this unravel.
Great interview and thanks for posting.
It is going to happen. NOVA #10 and done.

Nah, 12/20 with UCF, ECU or Houston, and Memphis for Basketball Only.*

SUPER CONFERENCE.

*not really. They will stick at 10/17. Nova gets the best Easter Gift ever.
12/20 with Houston and UCF or ECU I bet.
No way are 12 happening anytime soon. 10 was stated, and with these schools in mind, and that was part of the 'deal' between the fball and bball schools. AFAIK, no one connected to the BE has ever mentioned 12, and there are very valid reasons they will hold at 10/17. Even in the LV podcast post, he says 18-20 is just unworkable (paraphrasing).

IIRC, Luck mentioned he wouldn't be surprised if the BE went to 12. That doesn't mean the BE said they would...but it is somebody connected with the BE mentioning that number.
yawn. UCF is not getting invited
If 12 I feel like the situation would dictate nova moving up, one school full invite, one football only.

12/18. but still... 10 has ALWAYS been the state goal, so I am guessing that after the dust settles on this round, there will be TEN or wait and see.

ACC: Miami, FSU
SEC: UF
Big East: USF
Big XII: UCF?

Not gonna happen, but having five Florida schools in different BCS conferences would be interesting.

Look...I think UCF deserves to be in a BCS conference, but UCF in the Big XII is light years different than TCU to the Big East. At least TCU was worth talking about and even joking about the possibilities. 'UCF to the Big XII' is not in the same sort of situation that a 'TCU to the BE' was. Not even close. The thought is probably no more realistic than ECU to the ACC...or SEC for that matter. Not sure why you guys toss that up every so often. Not sure why some of our fans toss up the ACC thing either.

The Big 12 would take a bunch of Big East schools before they took UCF. Louisville being the most likely and geographically compatible. At least they border 1 existing member.
Assuming Villanova joins the Big East in football, the two schools that would best bring the Big East to twelve would be Notre Dame and Navy. This would give the Big East a split of 12/18.
There has never been any serious talk about UCF joining the Big 12. Some fans have speculated UCF in some conversations as a new market for the Big 12 and being in Florida....but that's it. So has Louisville, BYU, San Diego St. (seriously), USF..etc. It's all speculation based on how the Big 12 would want to venture out of their markets and where could they possibly look. I think UL has the best shot with the proximity to the Big 12 north schools.

As a UCF fan...It's pretty difficult to imagine UCF in the Big 12's scheme of things. I wouldn't be surprised if they pondered venturing into the Florida market, though. Had UCF and USF been in the Big East the same amount of time and were both very successful both on the field and in TV ratings throughout that time...then I could see it as a possible avenue for the Big 12 to invite both of them. I just don't think the Big 12 knows enough about UCF or even USF, to make that a choice today.
Nice Job Ethan and Brent! Asked the right questions those inquiring minds want to hear and with knowledge

I was not won over by what Eric said for Nova to be the 10th team...sounds like they are still just limping into the mix, with no real plan and no confidence in their own fans.....he made the comment about getting visitors fans there, sounds like that is in play as much as the home fanbase. The stadium deal is still not anything to speak of. I dont' mind them but as the 12th team not the 10th.

Keep up the good work....time to get Frank the Tank on to stir it up for us!
Its hard to tell if Nova has a plan or not. I'm open minded on that fact even though I'd hate to see them join. Plus there will be a transitional phase for Nova so come 2013 we'll know for sure if this has been a mistake or not. Could surprise the naysayers on this esp me.

Ithaca College, a tiny Division III school in upstate New York, has a larger and far more enthusiastic football fan base than Villanova.

If the Big East wants to add value to football side of the conference, they would be better off adding Ithaca than they would Villanova.

Even Villanova's own alumni - including the ones who most fervently support the upgrade - have all admitted how poor the support for the football program is.
