Quote:Dear Mr. Heeke,

I just finished watching the CMU vs WMU basketball rebroadcast on the CMU Sports Zone. I was a little shocked by a couple of comments from one of the commentators.

Dan Epson made the following comment after Nate Hutchenson made a three point shot.
"He's a cocky little white boy that I think Central can frustrate if they get him out of his rhythm."

Later, after a 360 dunk by Hutchenson, Epson made this comment.
"The white man got up and got the spin in there."

I understand that a college broadcast will usually be a bit bush league and unprofessional, but I don't think it's appropriate for the announcer to define a player by the color of his skin. I highly doubt the CMU president would want his children referred to in this manner.

Frankly, I'd just get rid of Mr. Epson. He's a small fish in a small operation, and could easily be replaced. Bottom line he isn't worth risking your universty's reputation over. I know several people (both WMU and CMU fans) who heard these comments and all were shocked that he said them. At the very least you need to address this with him so it doesn't happen in the future.
Think it ever got past his secretary?
Hawkins reads and responds to his emails. KB reads and responds to her emails. I'm sure the subject heading I put on it got his attention.

Bottom line is it's all true. Even the CMU people who heard it thought he needed to go. That broadcast might have been the most amateur televised broadcast I've ever seen. It wasn't just a few calls this guy disagreed with, IT WAS EVERY SINGLE CALL AGAINST THE CHIPS-----EVERY ONE, no matter how obvious. The same guy spent the game talking about WMU being classless. He repeatedly made fun of Matt Stainbrook (who beat the crap out of their center), he mocked and belittled Mike Douglas, simply because he tore them a new azzhole.

In a hayseed, bumpkin sort of way he was fun to listen to. The more his beloved Chips got beat down the more he'd belittle the guys beating them down.

He reminds me of a guy who walked into an interview, felt he had no chance at the job, and then when he got it acted as if he was the next Marv Albert (minus the cross dressing.........I think). What he is is king chit on turd island and Heeke needs to find someone to replace him before he offends someone who really cares.
He probably only responds to real emails, not ones with signatures of "ChipDip1".
He doesn't have to respond. He just needs to read it, ask a few questions of people doing the broadcast, and if he got any other emails like it, look into it seriously.

The camera crew and people producing this are all students. They're not going to lie to him to protect Dan Epson.
Send it to dan epson. I would love to see his response.
He doesn't have an email listed on the CMU athletic site.
I got a response back. Good for Heeke.

I'm not doing this because I dislike CMU. Frankly, in listening to the broadcast I had the feeling that the announcer was a bit befuddled by the comments as well, as he totally moved on from them. This young man needs to learn a lesson in this piddly azz job, so he doesn't do something similar in a real job.

Again, I appreciate you bringing this to my attention.

Dambrot was fired as CMU men's basketball coach for using the "N"-word.

This is not nearly on the same level but will still be interesting to see what Heeke's working definition of "appropriately" is.
"I'm not doing this because I dislike CMU."

Chip, I find these words to be a little hollow. Anyone that knows you, would not associate you to altruism when it comes to the chips. Thanks for my laugh of the day.

Always proud to be a Bronco.
LOL! He's doing it because he wants to help CMU become better members of the society.
Oh come on, I want to help the kid 03-melodramatic
