— Delta announced plans Tuesday to trim 40-60 flights departing daily from Memphis by year's end.

— Affected flights probably won't be identified publicly until July or August.

— The Memphis-Amsterdam nonstop is safe for now. "We have no plans to change that market at this time, but in light of skyrocketing fuel prices, we continue to evaluate all of our markets," said spokeswoman Kristin Baur.

— The airline will add or increase nonstop service this summer on a seasonal basis to Appleton, Wis.; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Lincoln, Neb.; Evansville, Ind.; and Madison, Wis.

Not good at all.

We all need to fly Delta ad much as possible.
Enter Southwest Airlines
Only an 8% reduction in seat capacity. Major markets unaffected. Now if you want to fly to Monroe Louisiana or Amarillo Texas, you're probably out of luck.
I'm just waiting and hoping for Southwest. I will never fly Delta again, if I can help it.
I saw something in the ca this morning about southwest buying air trans and being "one step closer to Memphis".
I heard there were going to be upwards of 100+ flights cancelled. RCJ International will never be the same...bring on Southwest NOW!

I do see something interesting though...I'm calling it now! With increased flights to Lincoln and Madison, I fully expect an invitation to the Big 10 any day now!!!

Or at least them showing up on our schedule!

With the consolidation of Northwest and Delta routes, this is not shocking at all. I have done it enough and Memphis is ridiculously expensive to fly out anyway if you ask me.
I was saddened to hear, pretty soon, I won't be able to fly down to Mid-Delta Regional Airport in scenic Greenville, MS for business and/or pleasure.
I go to the airport all the time and I can't wait for Southwest to take over Airtran and the entire A concourse.
