Time for the rest of the guys to step up!
Figured that was coming, dammit.
There goes any real shot of advancing in the playoffs. We can all still hope, but at least the team should still MAKE the playoffs.

Rob

I don't think the team is much worse without Rudy honestly. It gives more minutes to Tony Allen who is a very good defender and has stepped up his scoring since Rudy went down. In the playoffs I'll trade a little offense for more defense.
The team had a good sense of this and it is why they picked up Shane.

BTW, did y'all see that Thabeet has been sent to Houston's D League team?
Regrettably, the Grizz's playoff hopes have suffered a fatal blow. I hope I am wrong.

Before the injury:
Last 10 games against teams .500 or better, 6-4

After the injury:
Last 10 games against teams .500 or better, 4-6

The Grizz are holding their own without Rudy and still have a great chance at making the playoffs but let's not get carried away here. The need Rudy's offense in the playoffs to have any legitimate shot at advancing. They don't really have anyone else that can create for themselves. OJ could be the guy if he would snap out of the mess he's been in this year. The Grizzlies defense has actually been slightly worse after the injury to Rudy than it was before, granted we played a little easier schedule. Still, Rudy's defense was an important part of the teams success this year. He was among the best in the NBA in steals along with Conley and Allen.

Why would you think that? They've already played 14 games without him and I think they've proven they can hold their own against playoff opponents. We have 3 really tough games coming up @Boston, @Chicago, and vs.San Antonio. After that, we have one of the easiest remaining schedules in the NBA. People are worried about Houston, and they should be. They are 2 games behind us for the 8th seed right now. Their schedule is very similar to ours. They have, IMO, 3 tough games also @Miami,vs.San Antonio, and vs.Dallas. 1 that could be tough in a matchup with Atlanta. So yes, if we slip up and lose a few games we shouldn't and they take care of business, then yes they could pass us. What I'm looking at though is New Orleans. They are only 1 game ahead of us (I think, maybe 2?) and they have a heck of a schedule coming up, including 2 against us. Those 2 games against New Orleans are going to be absolute wars. We have to win both to tie the series. I think if we win both of those matchups, they slide out of the playoffs.
They will miss rudy big time if they indeed make the playoffs. You may not think that now, but you will in april.
