Both were passed today.

The Physical Training facility resolution passed first, with an interesting message though.

Trustee (Joseph C. Espy III) commented on the resolution, stating that these improvements are needed by UAB and urged the board to move forward with these improvements and pass the resolutions.

Trustee Bryant then asked Mr. Margison if that committee (Physical Properties) had ever not passed anything that UAB had presented. Mr. Margison said that to his knowledge the committee had passed everything.

Then Dr. Garrison chimed in and said...

Dr. Garrison Wrote:UAB is very appreciative of what the board has done in the past and will continue to be appreciative of the Board of Trustees

Take from that what you will...

I thought it was :

Thank You Sir may I have another! ~ Chip (Kevin Bacon) the Omega pledge, in Animal House.

I'm assuming that is for sports medicine...?

Yes. In related news, Mike Jones was seen doing cartwheels down University.
Well, I'm glad the board saw fit to assure everyone that they provide UAB with everything they want, and have never tried to do us harm or meddle with our internal affairs.

*sigh*

NO it is for UAB sports (exclusively or mainly) football and will be located in the same area as the other facilities. Does anyone know if we have raised the money yet for these two buildings yet?
This should really point us in the right direction as for what actually went down in December. The Board knows that its under the gun so they will
just about do what UAB request of them. Dr.CG should hit them very hard
these next few years for everything she thinks this University needs.

It's a game and right now we have a winning hand so we must use it. When they get the winning hand again believe me they will use it against us.
Quote:Trustee Bryant then asked Mr. Margison if that committee (Physical Properties) had ever not passed anything that UAB had presented.

I think this quote is much more interesting than what Dr. Garrison said. PBJ didn't have to say anything, but chose to make an issue of it.

They are covering their azz because of the hell we all raised and the various people watching their every move now. They do not want to screw up and lose total control over everything. Now is the time to start asking for everything we need......... ;-)
The first thing we should ask for is an investigation into the hiring of our new football coach. The second thing we should ask for is the elimination of the athletic committee.

I hope Carol Z brushes her teeth before kissing Julian because there is no telling what she has on her lips after kissing some of the @#$ of that board!
Did they pass? Or did they pass unanimously?

I find Bryant Jr.'s comments to be a bit inflammatory, but I wouldn't expect anything less from him.

BTW, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but won't this have to be built with our money anyway? How could they NOT approve it? Well... better question... what justification could they possibly give for NOT approving it?

It was unanimous.

I found his comments telling. It makes me think he's heard from someone(s) with enough clout to get his attention. Maybe all the b!tching paid off.

No uabbean. It is for UAB Sports Medicine. They are the ones that work with all 17 incollegiate sports. You (and most others) only see them working with football.

While not a lot of funding has been raised to date, Mr. Margison said he was very optimisitic that UAB could raise the funds. The reason being that the Athletic Academic Center just recieved a 6-figure gift from a local donor, as well as many local businesspeople showing interest in donating as well.

The Governor wrote me back saying he was going to have the board investigated

Thanks 4life - this will not matter for this project but will be big on the timing of other projects. Although I assume though that UAB sports medicine will only treat UAB Athletics at Complex- not students? Is the new weight room for everybody also ?(My confusion is because I have heard some minor sports coaches gripping about some things that they will not be able to use in new project(s))
So Trustee Bryant made a stupid remark about funding UAB resolutions and then he votes in favor of one of the resolutions that he was deriding. I was expecting that old weasel to sit there and be a "No" vote on anything UAB wanted.

Had all that happened not happened, I wouldnt be surprised if he had been a "No" vote. He doesn't want anymore of that spotlight on him right now for anything.
