Many area racing fans are excited by the announcement today of an I-40 championship series. Comp Cams is awarding $1500 to the sprint driver who wins the combined points at Riverside Speedway in west Memphis and I-30 Speedway in Little Rock. With the high cost of running a weekly show the two tracks chose to alternate winged sprint nights so each would not have to compete against the other for winged 360 sprints. Sounds like a great deal right. Well not really if you look at the details. In order to be qualified to compete for the title a driver cannot miss more than 1 night at each track. Between extremely high fuel prices, which are expected to be close to $4 or more this summer (diesel expected to be higher than that), regular wear and tear on equipment, repairs from crashes or other races, it is easy for anyone to miss more than the allowed 1 night per track. In theory a person could win every night they run at both tracks but end up not getting a dime if they miss a total of 3 nights of racing. And the suckers are lapping it up as if this is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

That fella THINKS he knows everything about racing. He hates every thing and every one associated with Clayton and Riverside. He is just a miserable person and post on a sports forum about his complaints on racing stories. If you dont want to compete at I-30 and Riverside, DONT. If others want to travel each weekend, thats their business. If you hate the racing situation around here do bad, DONT attend or participate. I dislike hockey, therefor I dont attend Riverkings games, but I dont complain about it every day, I just dont go.

My post was more, "go tell somebody that cares".

Doubt he has the sack to do that, however.

You're right i don't like Clayton. I don't like anyone who lies to your face and who enforces the rules according to who is involved. Like when one of his personal friends walks to another drivers pit spot starts a fight and get's his ass beat, then instead of being barred as the rules stated. His friend comes back the next week and Clayton makes up a rules on the spot to disqualify the car of the guy who kicked his friends ass.

I don't like someone who says he will go into someone's private vehicle and confiscates their LEGAL personal property if it is in the parking lot.

You're wrong on my feelings for Riverside. I do not like what he has done operational wise to the track and how he abuses his power. But I have been attending the track since 1958 and when physically able i attend. Believe me if i could pass on some information i do have without harming the track i would do it.

As far as my knowledge of racing. Tell you what drop me a line sometime and i will show you where the first permanent race track in Memphis area was and no it wasn't the fairgrounds.

Old nascar track near !-40 just west of West Memphis. Lee Petty won a race there in the 50's.

People will care if the track is closed and sold for taxes, which was very close to happening recently. The dude is one of this areas worst tax delinquents. Up until this past year he was behind on every piece of property he had INCLUDING the track. The track got so far behind that the county suspended his online payment privileged and he was REQUIRED to contact the tax assessors office personally. Some of his Tipton county properties were as much as 5 years behind. Some people have openly wondered if it was a coincidence that the same year that no one got their year end points that he suddenly came up with almost $30,000 to partially catch up with his Tipton county property taxes. The former owner of the track had to go in front of the county board to guarantee that the track would remain open if Clayton walked away. Clayton is a house of cards and someday it will come tumbling down.

OLD news. Taxes were paid TWO years ago. Point funds were paid this year. Fella, it must suck being you. If you dislike Clayton, try taking up paper dolls or knitting. Believe its more to your skill level.

You are correct. Some of drivers have SUPER model quality wives or girlfriends and make between 10 and 20 million a year. Travel in private jets and multi million dollar motor homes.

If that is gay, sign me up for a gig in Broke Back Mountain 2.

I'm thinking that any sport were the participants risk serious injury or possible death every time they enter their chosen field of play is anything but gay.

However, maybe you know more about the gay lifestyle than the rest of us and have inside knowledge?

Yep. Marry a model to hide your gayness.

Everyone knows that it's all about the owner, who has the most money to put into the car.

Drivers are not athletes. There's chicks competing with dudes for Christ sake.

You can tell you have no idea what your talking about. Chip Ganassi and Felix Sebates have PLENTY of money and until the last couple of years, couldnt win. Felix owned the American rights to Atari, Pong, Pak Man, Nintendo. That man has plenty. Money doesnt buy wins, it buys resources. You have to have the right team in place, give them those resources and then they win.

Trevor Bayne won Daytona with the most underfunded team on the track, well almost. Its just like any sport or business venture. If you dont have the right people in place, all the money in the world wont bring success.

You should try watching a race sometimes, its very entertaining. Maybe you will learn what makes a winning team. Money helps, but its WAY more than that.
Drivers are not athletes.

And it's still gay.
