Cubit made some good friends in this deal. You guys should benefit from it in the future. Really glad to see it worked out. AJ is a great kid.

The painstaking recruiting odyssey of Armwood WR A.J. King formally will end Tuesday evening in the Hawks' field house when he signs his letter of intent with Western Michigan.
King and FB Kyle Wilcox, spurned by Princeton before committing earlier this week to Penn, will sign their paperwork at a small evening ceremony, Hawks coach Sean Callahan said.
The signature will end a recruiting process far more bitter than sweet for King. He committed to Purdue before tearing a knee ligament in the Hawks' preseason game against Middleton and essentially missing his entire senior year.
As recently as early December, he visited Purdue and seemed assured the Boilermakers' scholarship offer remained intact. Shortly thereafter, Callahan said Purdue coach Danny Hope asked King to take a "grayshirt," meaning he couldn't enroll or participate with the team until 2012.
With King's future in limbo, Western Michigan entered the picture in the recruiting season's 11th hour, offering King a scholarship early last month. Callahan, who says he'll no longer allow Purdue coaches on his campus, had nothing but praise Thursday for Broncos coach Bill Cubit.
"It's nice to work with somebody whose word means something and they stand by it," Callahan said.
"After talking to (King) on the phone, (the WMU coaches) knew he was a quality young man. He's a qualifier, they're not concerned about his ACL because they know he's going to come back even better. ... I realize (Cubit) went out of his way to help us, and that's something I'll never forget."
