So after waiting out the 2nd great mid-western ice storm before I headed home yesterday, I've had lots of time to think:

1. I'm going to attribute most of the assinine comments regarding CMD's coaching to temporary insanity brought on by not experiencing a rebuilding year in a while (3 years).

2. So now we know at least part of the reason why XCMA left: Great athletes don't necessarily make great basketball players. One has to wonder if XCMA could have landed Ronald Steele, Dimarre Carrol, et al, would he have left for Mizzou?

3. I heard XCMA's interview on "The Sports Animal" yesterday. He wanted a tougher schedule than CUSA offered (main reason he left UAB) and he got it. He also gave major props to Gabe Kennedy, Squeaky, Mo, Ball, etc. Said he wished he had more players like that at Mizzou this year. XCMA's getting a butt whipping in the Big 12 this year, but he is taking it like a man.

4. After watching 7 games, this year's team has: 0 pure shooters, 2 decent shooters (Mukubu, Kinnard), 1 great slasher (PD3), 3 great athletes learning the post (Holmes, Mayfield, Crawford), 0 pure PGs, and a couple of kids trying to find their way (Dortch, Davis, Gibbs). Let's keep in mind that only 2 of these players will be good enough to start on next year's team (PD3 and Mayfield).

5. This year's team STILL has: 2 Srs (Mukubu, Gibbs), 4 Jrs (Holmes, PD3, Davis (newcomer), Vaden (transfer), 4 Sophs (Kinnard, White (still on roster), Sharpe (transfer), Toney (transfer), and 4 Frosh (Mayfield, Crawford, Dortch, Marsh (walk-on). That's young. Even the most assinine of you should admit that.

6. I saw CMD on the Zone Sunday night: Basically, 1) Memphis bench with 38 pts killed us, 2) Early success against Memphis was not uptempo, but making some shorts, 3) Offense worked Sat by producing open shots, but shots were not made. Finally, CMD loves the effort, but is not happy with the execution.

7. Nickson is progressing well at UAB, Andre White has been plagued with injuries, health issues, and now family problems that have not helped his attitude. As of last week, the door was still open for him to come back. He is still on the official roster.

8. Only rumors for now, but look for breaking news involving Nate Minnoy and Stanley Robinson and UAB!

9 Finally met our recruiting guru Jesse. It was nice to meet you!
Stanley Robinson as in the UConn Stanley Robinson?

Reportedly, considering leaving UConn. No confirmation as yet. But he is originally from Huffman HS.

Had interest from all kinds of schools, though. Probably could have his pick as a former 5-star recruit. Did, however, consider UAB originally. Not sure whether his interest in UAB would be stronger or weaker now. Would be a MAJOR recruit for us, however.

This is why I got excited! Apparently, some of us can make it in the great white north, while some find it tougher.

Was there anything else specific you've heard about Robinson and potentially leaving for UAB? Or was that more of a hopeful thing?

As for Nate Minnoy... I'm not sure what to think of him. Supposedly played pretty well as a FR at Purdue. Now I'm not big in the recruiting circles or anything, but I'd say Minnoy coming is probably more likely. Davis apparently has been mentioning some other transfer... I assumed it was Minnoy, but I guess it could be someone else.

The Robinson thing came from a UAB official, but could not be confirmed, so for now, it's a hopeful rumor. Same as Minnoy. Below is an article on Minnoy leaving Purdue.

Very interesting. Robinson had a big game the other night with a team (and I believe game) high 21pts... also had 9 rebounds. I guess he may just hate the cold weather or something. He's definitely got NBA potential, so that's my only question. If he does leave, would he leave for UAB or would he go ahead and make the jump to the NBA? He's probably got part of his game he wants to work on, though, I guess. Jim Calhoun says Robinson reminds him alot of Rudy Gaye.
nate minnoy is a fine player who would be a very good fit at uab and give davis more lineup options.

he's a matchup problem -- too strong for smaller forwards and too good a shooter to guard with a bigger player.

Davis is elevating UAB's talent to top-40 level quickly.
I had heard Stanley Robinson to UAB but I was NOT going to be the first to post it here........ lmfao yea, that's possible.

So you're now my second source? How many sources do I need? How many sources un-related to UAB do I need? ;-)

According to traditional media standards, which haven't been followed since Watergate, you need three independent sources, with no connections to each other, before you can trust the information provided.

Odds are, Attalla's using the same source as I am, but maybe not. Right now, it's a fun and hopeful rumor. But Robinson would not be the first Southerner turned off by the cold north wind.
Robinson, coming out of High School was rated a lot higher than Jemison? who is currently at Bammer U.

Big time prospect out of HS.

Did he sign in the early signing period last year?

If so, then that explains why he would now consider UAB with Davis (because he didn't have the opportunity before)

Very good point. I do believe Robinson signed in Nov. of 2005.

That was against IU over the weekend.

I have heard that Robinson is unhappy at UConn as well. He thinks he is being underutilized.
